A free math worksheet generator with answer keys

This math worksheet generator makes printable addition, subtraction, multiplication and division worksheets in seconds. Pick a grade preset — or set the number of digits for each operation yourself — choose whether problems need regrouping (carrying and borrowing), whether division leaves remainders, and how many problems you want. A separate answer key page is added for marking.

Teachers, tutors and parents use it for math worksheets for grade 3, a math worksheet for class 1, homework, warm-ups and revision. Every sheet has a code, so the same code and settings give the same problems again. It is free and printable on A4 or US Letter, and everything is drawn in your browser — nothing is uploaded and no sign-up is needed.

How to use the Math Worksheet Generator

  1. Choose a Grade preset, or tick the operations you want and set the digits for each one.
  2. Choose Regrouping for + and − (mixed, always or never), whole-number or remainder division answers, and decimal places if needed.
  3. Set the number of problems, the layout (column or in a line) and the print size.
  4. Check the preview and use the page buttons to see the answer key. Press New problems for a different sheet.
  5. Press Print worksheet, or download a PDF or PNG.

Math Worksheet Generator features

Four operations, mixed or alone

Problems are shared evenly between the ticked operations and shuffled.

Digits per operation

From 1-digit facts to 5-digit sums, 3 × 2-digit products and 4-digit ÷ 2-digit long division.

Regrouping control

“With regrouping” makes every sum carry and every difference borrow at least once; “No regrouping” makes sure none do.

Clean answers

Subtraction never goes negative, and division is either exact or shows the remainder as “R”.

Answer key page

The same layout with every answer filled in, ready for marking.

Repeatable sheets

A sheet code recreates the exact worksheet, so you can reprint it or share the code.

Grade presets and what they cover

Standards from the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (thecorestandards.org, read October 2026). Indian Class 1–5 and UK Year 2–6 courses cover broadly similar steps in a slightly different order, so treat the presets as starting points and adjust the digits. The decimals option fits the grade 5 standard on adding, subtracting and multiplying decimals to hundredths.

PresetProblemsCommon Core standard
Grade 11-digit + and − (within 20)1.OA.C.6
Grade 22-digit + and −2.NBT.B.5
Grade 33-digit + and −, × and ÷ facts within 1003.NBT.A.2, 3.OA.C.7
Grade 44-digit + and −, 3-digit × 1-digit, 4-digit ÷ 1-digit with remainders4.NBT.B.4–6
Grade 53-digit × 2-digit, 4-digit ÷ 2-digit5.NBT.B.5–6

How the problems are made

  • Numbers are drawn with a seeded random generator from the sheet code and your settings, and a problem is not repeated on one sheet when there are enough different ones.
  • Regrouping is checked column by column: an addition regroups when any column adds to 10 or more; a subtraction regroups when any digit on top is smaller than the digit below it. Some settings make it impossible — 1-digit − 1-digit never borrows — and the tool says so instead of hiding it.
  • Whole-number division starts from the answer: it picks a divisor and a quotient so the dividend has the digits you asked for. With remainders picks any dividend and shows the answer as, for example, 412 R 3.
  • Decimal problems line up on the decimal point because both numbers have the same number of places; in multiplication the first number has the decimal places.

Tips for using math worksheets

Short, regular practice works better than one long sheet: 10–20 problems a day, marked straight away, is plenty. Move to regrouping once a child is accurate without it, and use column layout for anything above 2 digits. For timed fact practice on screen, try the math practice game; for worked long-division steps, the long division calculator.

Math Worksheet Generator FAQ

Is this math worksheet generator free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and you can print as many copies as you like for a class or at home.

How do I make math worksheets for grade 3?

Choose the Grade 3 preset. It mixes 3-digit addition and subtraction with multiplication and division facts within 100; untick operations or change the digits to focus on one skill.

Can I make a math worksheet for class 1?

Yes. The Grade 1 / Class 1 preset gives 1-digit addition and subtraction within 20. Choose the large print size and fewer problems for young children.

Does the worksheet come with answers?

Yes, on a separate answer key page when “Answer key on a separate page” is ticked. Untick it to print only the pupil copy.

Can I make subtraction with regrouping worksheets?

Tick only subtraction, set the digits (for example 3-digit − 3-digit) and choose “With regrouping”. Every problem then needs at least one borrow.

Does it do fractions?

Not yet: it covers whole numbers and decimals. For fraction models, use the fraction visualizer.
