These free spreadsheet tools work on Excel (.xlsx and .xls), ODS and CSV files in your browser, so your data never leaves your device. The Excel viewer opens a workbook on any phone or computer with every sheet, formula and format, and the compare Excel files tool shows changed cells, new rows and new columns between two versions.

To reshape data, the CSV splitter and Excel splitter cut one large file into smaller ones by rows, size or a column value, and the CSV merger and Excel merger combine many files into one, lining columns up by name. The pivot table maker sums, counts or averages one column by another, with months, filters and totals.

What is kept and what is not

  • Values, formats and dates are kept. Numbers stay numbers, codes with leading zeros stay text, and Indian lakh-style formats are preserved.
  • Styling is not. The free spreadsheet library these tools use does not write fonts, colours, borders, charts or comments, and each page says what it keeps.

Are my spreadsheets uploaded?

No. Every tool here reads the file in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for private or business data.

How big a file can I open?

Each page states its limit; most handle tens of megabytes, and the CSV splitter reads very large CSV files in pieces.

Will formulas still work after I split or merge?

When rows are split or stacked, formulas become their calculated values, because their references would no longer point to the right cells. Tools that copy whole sheets can keep formulas, and each page says which it does.

Can I open an Excel file on my phone?

Yes. The Excel viewer works on phones and shows every sheet, with search and sort, without installing an app.
