Chords, keys and practice tools built on one music-theory engine

These free music tools run in your browser and spell every note correctly for its key, so F-sharp major has an E-sharp and G-flat major has a C-flat. For guitar there is the guitar chord chart with playable shapes in any tuning, the guitar fretboard notes map, the capo calculator and the guitar tab maker. Ukulele players have the ukulele chord chart, and the piano chord finder shows any chord on a keyboard or names the chord from the keys you press.

For songs, the chord transposer moves a chord sheet to any key, the chord sheet maker lays out lyrics with chords and prints a PDF, and the chord progression generator suggests progressions by key and style. For theory, there is the interactive circle of fifths, the scale finder with modes and Indian thaats, and the Western notes to sargam converter for any Sa.

To practise, use ear training for intervals, chords and scales, and the vocal range test to find your range with the microphone on your device. For production, the BPM to ms calculator gives delay times, and the streaming royalties calculator estimates what streams pay.

How the tools work

  • Generated from theory. Chord shapes, scales and progressions are calculated by the music engine, not copied from songbooks. Fingerings are suggestions, and some note sets have more than one valid chord name.
  • Sound on request. Tools play notes only after you click, and every page has a mute button. The microphone is used only by the vocal range test, only when you start it, and nothing is recorded.

Music: frequently asked questions

Are these music tools free?

Yes. They are free, need no account and run in your browser. Songs you type and drafts you save stay on your device.

How do I transpose chords to another key?

Paste the chord sheet into the chord transposer and choose how many semitones to move, or pick the new key. It spells the chords for that key and keeps them aligned above the lyrics, and it can suggest a capo position instead.

What capo fret should I use?

Enter the song’s chords or key in the capo calculator. It ranks every capo fret by how easy the chord shapes become, so you can play in the original key with open shapes.

How do I find my vocal range?

Start the vocal range test, sing your lowest comfortable note and hold it, then your highest. It shows the range in notes and compares it with typical voice types. Never strain your voice.

Can I convert Western notes to sargam?

Yes. Choose your Sa, such as C or C#, and type the notes. The converter shows the sargam letters with komal and tivra marks and octave dots, in English and Hindi, and can convert sargam back to notes.
