Channel Banner Maker

Design 2560 × 1440 channel banners with the TV, computer, tablet and phone safe areas marked and a 6 MB size check.

2560 × 1440 px · recommended upload size, 6 MB limit
Show on the canvas (never exported)

Tap a layer to select it · drag to move (it snaps to the centre and safe-area lines; hold Alt to stop snapping) · corners resize · the round handle rotates (Shift = 15° steps) · double-tap text to edit.

Templates are drawn in code — swap the words, colours and photo placeholders for your own.

How it crops on each device

Format

Exports at the exact pixel size shown above. 1 KB = 1,000 bytes and 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes, so a file under the limit here is under it everywhere.

Your design is saved in this browser automatically. A saved .json file keeps every layer, font choice and photo so you can reopen it on any device.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

A channel banner maker with every device crop marked

One banner image is shown on a TV, a computer, a tablet and a phone, and each one crops it differently. A TV shows the whole 2560 × 1440 picture. A computer shows only a wide strip across the middle, and a phone shows an even narrower slice of that strip. This channel banner maker draws those crops on the canvas, warns you when a line of text would be cut off, and shows four small previews side by side so you can see the result before you upload.

Start from a template or a blank page, then use gradients, patterns, your own picture (cover or contain), text in many fonts, stickers, emoji and a logo layer. Drag layers, nudge them with the arrow keys, snap to the safe area, undo mistakes, and export a JPG or PNG at exactly 2560 × 1440. The export check keeps the file under 6 MB. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How to use the Channel Banner Maker

  1. Pick Channel banner · 2560 × 1440 (or the 2048 × 1152 minimum) and a template — or start blank.
  2. Edit the text, colours and background. Add your logo with the image button, then drag it into the green safe area; it snaps to the guide lines (hold Alt to turn snapping off).
  3. Select a layer and press the arrow keys to nudge it by 1 pixel, or Shift plus an arrow for 10. Use the layer list to reorder, hide, lock or delete layers, and Undo if you slip.
  4. Check the four previews under the canvas: TV, computer, tablet and phone. The warning line lists any text outside the safe area or hard to read at phone size.
  5. Download a JPG (smaller) or PNG, leave “keep under” on at 6 MB, and upload it in YouTube Studio under Customisation → Branding → Banner image.

Channel Banner Maker features

Crop guides for every screen

Desktop (2560 × 423), tablet (1855 × 423) and the phone-safe area are drawn over the canvas, and the TV-only parts are dimmed. Turn each guide on or off.

Side-by-side previews

TV, computer, tablet and phone crops at one shared scale, so you can see which part of the design each viewer gets.

Backgrounds and layers

Solid, gradient, pattern or your own photo with cover, contain or blurred fill; text, shapes, emoji and logo layers with shadows and outlines.

6 MB guaranteed

The exporter lowers JPG quality step by step until the file fits the limit, and tells you the quality it used.

Exact size, no overlays

Guides and previews are never exported. The file is exactly 2560 × 1440 pixels (or 2048 × 1152).

Private

Your pictures and logo stay on your device. Only the font files are fetched, from Google Fonts, and the tool falls back to system fonts if they are blocked.

Channel banner size and safe area (as of 24 October 2026)

From YouTube Help, “Manage your channel branding”, checked on 24 October 2026:

Minimum upload2048 × 1152 px (16:9)YouTube Help
File sizeUp to 6 MBYouTube Help
Text and logo safe area1235 × 338 px at the minimum size, so 1544 × 423 at 2560 × 1440YouTube Help, scaled by 1.25
Computer strip and tablet width2560 × 423 and 1855 × 423 pxCommonly measured; not listed on the Help page

Worked example: placing a name and logo

At 2560 × 1440 the safe area runs from x = 508 to 2052 and from y = 508.5 to 931.5. A title 190 px tall centred at y = 665 spans roughly 570 to 760, and a 66 px subtitle at y = 830 spans about 797 to 863 — both inside. On a phone the 1544 px wide area is shown at around 390 points, a scale of 0.25, so the 190 px title appears about 48 points tall and the 66 px line about 17 points. Text under 36 px at full size would drop below 9 points on a phone, and the tool warns you.

A 1544-pixel text line is also a hard limit: set a wrap width of about 1400 so long names wrap instead of touching the edge. The TV shows far more picture than that, so extend your background art to the corners rather than leaving them blank.

Tips for better channel art

  • Design for the phone first. If it reads in the 193-pixel phone preview, it reads everywhere.
  • Keep faces and logos centred. Left and right ends are lost on tablets and phones.
  • Skip shadows, borders and frames around the whole image; YouTube Help advises against them.
  • Already have a banner? Resize it with the YouTube Thumbnail Resizer, check any image against the guides with the Social Image Safe-Area Checker, or squeeze a heavy photo with the Image Compressor.

Channel Banner Maker FAQ

What is the best channel banner size?

Upload 2560 × 1440 pixels, a 16:9 image under 6 MB. The minimum is 2048 × 1152. This channel banner maker exports both sizes.

What is the YouTube banner size for mobile?

Phones show only a central strip of the image. Keep text and logos inside 1544 × 423 at the centre of a 2560 × 1440 banner (1235 × 338 at 2048 × 1152). The phone preview shows exactly that crop.

Why is my banner cut off on a computer?

Computers show a 2560 × 423 strip from the middle of the image, and tablets a 1855 × 423 part of it. Only TVs show the whole picture. Move your text into the green dashed area.

How do I keep the banner under 6 MB?

Export as JPG with “keep under” set to 6 MB. The tool lowers the quality in steps until the file fits. PNG files of photos can exceed the limit, so prefer JPG for photographic backgrounds.

Are the safe-area numbers official?

The 2560 × 1440 size, 2048 × 1152 minimum, 6 MB limit and 1235 × 338 safe area come from YouTube Help (checked 24 October 2026). The computer and tablet widths are widely measured values the Help page does not list, so treat them as close guides.

Is this connected to YouTube?

No. It is an independent editor: you download the image and upload it in YouTube Studio yourself. Nothing is uploaded from this page.
