A fast emoji picker you can search
The Emoji Picker puts every standard emoji in one searchable place. Type a word — “laugh”, “heart”, “rocket”, “Nigeria” — and the matching emoji appear instantly; tap one to copy it and paste it into Instagram, WhatsApp, X, Discord, Slack, an email subject line or a document. Browse the nine official categories, switch skin tones for hands and people, and see each emoji’s exact Unicode code point.
It covers the full Unicode Emoji 16.0 list (over 1,900 emoji with their official CLDR short names and search keywords), so you will find both the classics and recent additions such as the shaking face, the phoenix and the lime. Everything is rendered by your own device’s emoji font, which means what you see is exactly what you will paste.

How emoji work: Unicode, code points and skin tones
Every emoji is a character (or a short sequence of characters) defined by the Unicode Standard, the same system that encodes letters in every language. 😀 is the single code point U+1F600, “grinning face”. Skin tones are made by adding one of five modifier characters, U+1F3FB to U+1F3FF, after a supported emoji: 👍 + U+1F3FD gives 👍🏽. More complex emoji such as 👨👩👧 are several emoji joined with the invisible zero-width joiner (U+200D) — see the Invisible Character tool for other invisible Unicode characters.
Because emoji are characters rather than pictures, each platform draws them with its own font: Apple, Google, Samsung, Microsoft and WhatsApp all look slightly different. A new emoji only appears on a device after its operating system is updated; on older devices it shows as an empty box.

Tips for using emoji on social media
- Instagram and TikTok treat emoji as characters: each one counts towards the caption limit (an emoji with a skin tone or ZWJ sequence can count as 2–7 characters). Check your total with the Instagram Caption Formatter.
- Emoji in email subject lines are supported by Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail, but keep to one — some corporate filters treat several as spam signals.
- Flags are pairs of “regional indicator” letters; Windows shows them as two-letter codes (🇮🇳 appears as IN) while phones show the flag.
- If an emoji shows as a box ▯, the reader’s device is too old to know it. Pick an older, similar emoji for important posts.
- For stylised letters and symbols rather than emoji, try the Fancy Text Generator.
Emoji Picker FAQ
How do I copy an emoji?
Tap or click it in the emoji picker. With “Copy each emoji when tapped” ticked, it goes straight to your clipboard; you can also collect several and press Copy all.
Why do emoji look different on my phone and my laptop?
Each operating system has its own emoji font. The emoji character you copy is identical everywhere; only the artwork changes.
How do I change the skin tone of an emoji?
Select a tone under Skin tone before tapping the emoji. Only emoji that show hands or people support tones; the rest are unaffected.
What are the U+ numbers shown under an emoji?
They are Unicode code points, the standard identifiers for characters. Developers use them in code (for example "\u{1F600}" in JavaScript or 😀 in HTML). Copy HTML entity gives you the HTML form directly.
Can I search emoji by meaning, like “happy” or “angry”?
Yes. The search covers the official names and the CLDR keyword list, so emotional words, slang such as “lol” and objects like “phone” all find the right emoji.
Is the emoji picker free and does it store what I pick?
It is free with no account. Your recent and collected emoji are kept only in your browser’s local storage so they are there next time; nothing is sent to a server.
