A WhatsApp sticker maker for single stickers and whole packs
A WhatsApp sticker is a 512 × 512 pixel WebP image with a transparent background, no bigger than 100 KB — get any of that wrong and sticker apps reject the file. This WhatsApp sticker maker handles the technical part: design with outlined text, emoji, speech bubbles or a cut-out photo, add the white outline WhatsApp recommends, and download a transparent WebP checked against the 100 KB limit.
Build up a pack of 3 to 30 stickers, give each one its emoji, pick the sticker that becomes the 96 × 96 tray icon, and download everything as a ZIP with a contents.json file and plain-language instructions. Your stickers are drawn in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use the WhatsApp Sticker Maker
- Pick a template — LOL, Thank you, Good morning, बधाई हो, a speech bubble or a photo cut-out — or press Start blank and set Background → Transparent.
- Change the words, colours and emoji. For a photo sticker, first remove the background with Remove Background, then tap the grey figure and add the transparent PNG.
- Under Sticker outline and export, keep the 8 px white outline or choose a colour or none, and check the light and dark chat previews.
- Type 1–3 emoji for the sticker, then press Download sticker for a single .webp file, or Add to pack.
- Repeat until the pack has 3 to 30 stickers, tick the one to use as the Tray icon, and press Download pack (.zip). The README inside explains how to add it to WhatsApp.
WhatsApp Sticker Maker features
Exactly WhatsApp’s format
Every sticker is 512 × 512 px, WebP, transparent and at most 100,000 bytes — under 100 KB however a phone counts kilobytes.
Die-cut outline
A white or coloured outline follows the shape of your text, emoji and photo, like a real vinyl sticker, with an optional soft shadow.
Chat previews
See the sticker on WhatsApp’s light and dark chat backgrounds and as a tray icon before you export.
Pack builder
Collect up to 30 stickers, reorder them, set emoji, reopen any sticker to edit it, and keep the pack in this browser between visits.
Ready-to-use ZIP
Numbered .webp files, a 96 × 96 tray.png under 50 KB, a contents.json in the layout of WhatsApp’s sample app and a README.
WhatsApp sticker requirements (as of October 2026)
From the README files of WhatsApp’s official open-source sticker repository and its sticker FAQ:
| Rule | Value | How this tool handles it |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Exactly 512 × 512 px | The canvas is fixed at 512 × 512 |
| Format and background | WebP, transparent | Background starts transparent; WebP keeps the alpha channel |
| File size | 100 KB or less (animated: 500 KB) | WebP quality is searched until the file fits; animated stickers are not made here |
| Outline and margin | 8 px white (#FFFFFF) stroke recommended; artwork guidance leaves a 16 px margin | Default white 8 px outline and a 16 px guide on the canvas |
| Tray icon | 96 × 96 px, 50 KB or less | Made from the sticker you tick, as a PNG |
| Pack | 3 to 30 stickers, all static or all animated, up to 3 emoji each | The ZIP button checks the count and the emoji |
Worked example: the outline and the 100 KB limit
The “LOL” template keeps its lettering inside the 16 px guide, so nothing is closer than 16 px to the edge. An 8 px white outline grows outward from the artwork, so its outer edge still stops at least 8 px from the border and is never clipped. Drag the text into the margin and a warning appears.
File size depends on detail. WhatsApp notes that many of its own stickers are around 15 KB, and flat text-and-emoji designs usually stay well below 100 KB at 92% WebP quality. A finely textured photo may not; then the tool searches lower qualities and keeps the highest one that fits, telling you the percentage it used.
How to add your stickers to WhatsApp
WhatsApp cannot import a ZIP file or a folder of stickers, and there is no web upload for packs — a pack with a tray icon reaches WhatsApp through an app built on its third-party sticker API. On a phone, install a sticker-maker app that has an Add to WhatsApp button, import the numbered .webp files in order, choose tray.png and add the pack. Developers can use the contents.json with WhatsApp’s open-source sample app instead.
For one-off stickers there is a shortcut: WhatsApp’s own Create sticker option (in WhatsApp Web and the desktop app, and in recent phone versions) accepts an image file, so you can pick a .webp made here. Recent versions also let you group stickers you already have into your own named packs inside WhatsApp. Make matching statuses with the WhatsApp Status Maker, or the same designs for another app with the Telegram Sticker Maker.
WhatsApp Sticker Maker FAQ
What size is a WhatsApp sticker?
Exactly 512 × 512 pixels, saved as a WebP with a transparent background, 100 KB or less for a still sticker. The tray icon that represents a pack is 96 × 96 pixels and at most 50 KB. This WhatsApp sticker maker produces both.
How many stickers does a WhatsApp pack need?
At least 3 and at most 30, and a pack must be all static or all animated. The ZIP button refuses packs outside that range so you do not find out later.
Why do my stickers need emoji?
WhatsApp uses up to three emoji per sticker to suggest it when people search. Its Android sample app treats them as required, so every sticker here gets at least one.
Can I upload the ZIP straight into WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp has no import for ZIP files or folders. Use a sticker-maker app with an “Add to WhatsApp” button, or create single stickers with WhatsApp’s built-in Create sticker option from the .webp files.
Can I make animated WhatsApp stickers here?
No — this tool makes still stickers only. Animated stickers are animated WebP files up to 500 KB with their own frame rules, and they cannot share a pack with static ones.
Why does my sticker have a white edge?
That is the outline, which WhatsApp recommends (8 px of #FFFFFF) so stickers stay visible on dark, light and patterned chat wallpapers. Choose “None” or a colour under Sticker outline and export if you prefer.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Stickers are drawn, outlined and compressed in your own browser, and the pack is stored only in this browser’s storage. Only font files are fetched from Google Fonts.
