A WhatsApp DP resizer that fits the circle

WhatsApp profile pictures are square images shown as a circle, so a tall phone photo gets its head or feet chopped off and the corners disappear. This WhatsApp DP resizer turns any photo into a clean square DP — 500 × 500 or 640 × 640 pixels — with a circle overlay and a round preview, so you can see exactly what your contacts will see before you set it.

Prefer the whole photo with nothing cut? Choose “Full photo DP, no cropping” and the picture fits inside the square on a background colour of your choice. The tool also sizes 1080 × 1920 Status images, business catalogue photos and 512 × 512 transparent WebP stickers. It works in your phone’s browser and never uploads your photos.

How to use the WhatsApp DP Resizer

  1. Tap the upload area and pick a photo from your gallery (or drop one on a computer).
  2. Keep “Profile photo (DP) · 500 × 500”, or choose 640 × 640, the no-crop DP, Status, catalogue or sticker size.
  3. Drag the preview to centre your face inside the circle and use Zoom to get closer. The round preview in the corner shows the final look.
  4. For a no-crop DP, pick a background colour that suits the photo — white, black or a soft colour from the picture.
  5. Download the image, then in WhatsApp open Settings, tap your profile photo and choose the saved picture.

WhatsApp image sizes as of 2025

WhatsApp compresses images and changes its apps from time to time, so treat these as good working sizes rather than strict rules.

Why WhatsApp crops your DP — and how to avoid it

WhatsApp stores the profile picture as a square and draws it as a circle in chats and contact lists. When you pick a rectangular phone photo, the app asks you to cut a square out of it, and the circle then removes the corners as well. Group photos and full-length pictures suffer most.

There are two fixes. Crop to fill with your face centred in the circle, which gives the biggest, clearest face in the small chat-list thumbnail. Or fit the whole photo inside the square with a background colour: everything stays, at the price of a smaller subject. Leave a margin inside the circle either way, because the edges of the circle are hard to see at thumbnail size.

Tips for a sharp profile picture

  • Start from the original camera photo, not a screenshot or a forwarded copy — those are already compressed.
  • Face the light and fill most of the circle with your face; tiny faces turn into a blur in the chat list.
  • For Status images, 9:16 fills the screen. Use “Fit inside” for landscape photos to avoid losing the sides.
  • Making stickers? Remove the background in a PNG first, then choose the sticker size; the tool keeps the transparency and keeps the WebP under 100 KB.
  • To share a chat link with your number, use the WhatsApp link generator; to combine several photos into one DP, try the collage maker first.

WhatsApp DP Resizer FAQ

What is the WhatsApp DP size?

A square image; 500 × 500 or 640 × 640 pixels looks sharp on today’s phones. WhatsApp displays it as a circle, so keep your face in the centre.

How do I set a full photo as my WhatsApp DP without cropping?

Choose “Full photo DP, no cropping”, pick a background colour and download. The whole photo now sits inside a square, so WhatsApp has nothing to cut off.

Why is my WhatsApp DP blurry?

Usually the photo was small, a screenshot, or already compressed by being forwarded. Start from the original photo and resize it to 640 × 640 with this WhatsApp DP resizer.

What size is a WhatsApp Status image?

1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16) fills the screen. WhatsApp compresses Status images when you post them, so start from a good-quality original.

Does this work on my phone?

Yes. It runs in Chrome, Safari or any modern mobile browser. Drag with one finger to move the photo and pinch or use the Zoom slider to zoom. Stickers need Chrome, Edge or Firefox, because Safari cannot save WebP files.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The resizing happens in your browser, and the photo stays on your device.
