A WhatsApp status maker for quotes, wishes and photos
WhatsApp’s built-in text status gives you a coloured background and a handful of fonts. This WhatsApp status maker goes further while keeping the same full-screen 9:16 shape: gradients and patterns, 16 fonts including Noto Sans Devanagari for Hindi and Marathi, emoji, stickers, photo frames and outlined or highlighted text. Templates cover the statuses people post most — good morning wishes, quotes, festival greetings, birthdays, a simple text update and a shop’s “new stock” post.
The canvas shows WhatsApp’s status screen on top of your design — the progress bars, your name and time at the top, and the Reply bar at the bottom — so nothing important hides behind them. You download a 1080 × 1920 JPG and post it from your phone as a photo status. It is all done in your browser; your photos are not uploaded anywhere.
How to use the WhatsApp Status Maker
- Pick a template such as Good morning, सुप्रभात (Hindi) or Festival greeting, or start blank.
- Tap the text on the canvas and type your own message in Edit; choose a font, colour, outline or a box behind the words.
- Change the colours or gradient in Background, or add your own photo there and darken or blur it so text stays readable.
- Keep words inside the green safe area — the red bands are covered by the name bar and the Reply bar.
- Press Download JPG, send the file to your phone if you designed on a computer, then open WhatsApp → Updates → add a status and pick the image.
WhatsApp Status Maker features
Status screen preview
Progress bars, name, time and the Reply bar are drawn over the canvas (never exported), with warnings when text sits underneath.
Hindi and Marathi text
Noto Sans Devanagari loads on demand, so सुप्रभात and शुभ दीपावली render correctly instead of as boxes.
Quote-friendly typography
Serif, script and display fonts, line spacing, highlight boxes and soft shadows for long sentences.
Backgrounds without stock photos
Twelve gradient presets, radial glows, and dots, rays, waves, halftone and confetti patterns drawn in code.
JPG tuned for recompression
JPG at 90% by default, exactly 1080 × 1920, with an optional size cap if you send it over a slow connection.
Reusable designs
Undo, autosave in this browser and .json design files — make a weekly quote style once and change only the words.
Why WhatsApp makes status images blurry, and what helps
WhatsApp re-encodes photos you post to Status to save data for you and your contacts; it saves them as JPEG again and may scale them down. Every round of JPEG compression smears fine detail, thin lines and small text, and flat gradients can show bands. You cannot switch that off, but you can give it less to damage:
- Start from exactly 1080 × 1920 so the app does not have to resize a huge or oddly shaped image.
- Export JPG at around 90% quality. Going to 100% only makes a bigger file that WhatsApp shrinks anyway.
- Use big, bold text — 70 px or more on the 1080-pixel width — with a dark outline or a box behind it.
- Prefer patterns and stronger gradients over very subtle ones, which are the first to show banding.
Worked example: a readable Hindi good-morning status
The “सुप्रभात (Hindi)” template sets सुप्रभात in Noto Sans Devanagari Bold at 210 px with a line height of 1.3 — Devanagari needs the extra room for vowel signs above and below the line. On a phone about 390 points wide the status is shown at roughly 390 ÷ 1080 ≈ 36% of its pixel size, so the word appears about 76 points tall: legible at a glance even after WhatsApp’s compression. The second line, आपका दिन शुभ हो, is 96 px, or about 35 points on screen.
Both lines sit between about y = 620 and 1075, well inside the safe area that runs from about y = 210 to 1520, so neither the name bar nor the Reply bar covers them. If you add a caption inside WhatsApp, it appears above the Reply bar — tick “Caption typed in WhatsApp” to see where.

WhatsApp Status Maker FAQ
What size is a WhatsApp status?
A full-screen 9:16 image, 1080 × 1920 pixels. This WhatsApp status maker exports exactly that size, so the app does not need to crop or stretch it.
Why does my WhatsApp status look blurry?
WhatsApp recompresses status photos to save data, which softens fine detail and small text. Start at 1080 × 1920, export JPG at about 90%, and use large bold text with an outline or box.
Can I write a status in Hindi or Marathi?
Yes. Choose Noto Sans Devanagari in the font list (or use the सुप्रभात template) and type or paste your text. The font downloads from Google Fonts the first time you use it.
How do I post the image as my status?
On your phone open WhatsApp, go to Updates, tap the camera or add-status button, choose the downloaded image from your gallery, add a caption if you like and send.
Should I choose JPG or PNG?
JPG. WhatsApp turns statuses into JPEG anyway, and a 90% JPG gives it a clean, reasonably small starting file. PNG is only useful as a master copy to keep.
Is anything uploaded when I use this?
No. The design, your photos and the export stay in your browser. Only the fonts are fetched from Google Fonts; if that fails, a similar system font is used.
