Fancy text and cool fonts you can copy and paste
The Fancy Text Generator turns ordinary words into 38 eye-catching styles at once — 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝, 𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑐, 𝓈𝒸𝓇𝒾𝓅𝓉, 𝔤𝔬𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔠, 𝕕𝕠𝕦𝕓𝕝𝕖-𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕦𝕔𝕜, ⓑⓤⓑⓑⓛⓔ, ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ, s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶, vaporwave and more. Type once, scroll the list and press Copy on the one you like.
People use these “Instagram fonts” to make a bio, caption, display name, gaming tag, Discord status or WhatsApp message stand out. Because each style is made of real Unicode characters rather than an image or a downloaded font, the result pastes as text into almost any app that accepts emoji.
Everything is generated in your browser, so there is no sign-up, no limit and nothing you type is stored.
How to use the Fancy Text Generator
- Type or paste your text into “Your text” — a name, a bio line or a whole caption.
- Scroll the live list of styles, or use the filter to show only Fonts, Lines & effects, or Fun & aesthetic styles.
- Press “Copy” next to the style you want.
- Paste it into Instagram, X, TikTok, Discord, WhatsApp or wherever you need it, and check how it looks on your phone.
Fancy Text Generator features
38 styles from one input
Serif and sans-serif bold and italic, script, Fraktur, double-struck, monospace, small caps, bubbles, squares, superscript, subscript, decorations and more, all generated live.
Correct Unicode, including the gaps
Letters such as script ℬ, Fraktur ℭ and double-struck ℝ live in a different Unicode block from the rest of their alphabet; the generator uses the right code points so no letter shows as an empty box.
Safe for any language
Characters that have no styled version — accented letters, other scripts, emoji — are kept exactly as typed instead of being dropped.
Line and glitch effects
Strikethrough, underline, double underline, overline, slashed, wavy and a light zalgo glitch use combining marks that work on top of any letter.
One-tap copy
Each style has its own Copy button, with a confirmation so you know it worked on mobile too.
How fancy fonts work
Apps like Instagram do not let you choose a font, but they do display any Unicode character. Unicode contains a block called Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols (U+1D400–U+1D7FF), created so mathematicians can write symbols like 𝐱, 𝑥 and 𝔵 as distinct characters. It holds complete A–Z alphabets in bold, italic, bold italic, script, Fraktur, double-struck, sans-serif and monospace, plus styled digits. This generator replaces each of your letters with its counterpart from those alphabets.
A few letters, such as the script capitals ℬ, ℰ and ℋ, existed earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block, so the maths block leaves a gap where they would be; the generator fills those gaps correctly. Other styles come from Enclosed Alphanumerics (Ⓐ, ⒜, ①), Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement (🅐, 🄰, 🅰), Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms (A), phonetic small capitals (ᴀ) and modifier letters (ᵃ). Line effects add a combining character such as U+0336 COMBINING LONG STROKE OVERLAY after every letter.
Where fancy text works
| Platform | Works? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Yes | Bio, captions, comments and display name. Usernames only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores. | |
| X (Twitter) | Yes | Posts and display name. Styled letters take 2 characters each toward the limit. |
| WhatsApp & Telegram | Yes | Messages, about text and group names. |
| Discord | Yes | Messages, nicknames and statuses; some servers block unusual characters in nicknames. |
| TikTok & YouTube | Mostly | Bios, captions and comments; some name fields reject them. |
| Facebook names, email, domains | No | Real-name and address fields only accept standard characters. |
Accessibility and SEO: use fancy text sparingly
Screen readers announce many of these characters by their technical names — “mathematical bold capital H” — or skip them entirely, so a bio written fully in fancy text can be unreadable for blind and low-vision followers. Search engines and in-app search also treat 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐞𝐬 as different from “shoes”, so styled words will not help people find you.
- Style a few words for emphasis and keep your name, key information and hashtags in normal text.
- Character counters may count each styled letter as two characters; check limits with the Character Counter.
- For flipped or mirrored text, use the Upside Down Text Generator; for blank names and spacing tricks, see Invisible Character.
- Lay out line breaks in captions with the Instagram Caption Formatter, and add emoji from the Emoji Picker.
Fancy Text Generator FAQ
How do I get fancy fonts on Instagram?
Type your text into the fancy text generator, press Copy next to a style, then paste it into your Instagram bio, caption or name field. Instagram displays the Unicode characters as styled letters.
Why do some letters show as boxes or question marks?
The device viewing the text does not have a font containing that character. Bold, italic, script and bubble letters are supported on all current phones and computers; rarer styles like Cherokee look-alikes or emoji letters may not show on old devices.
Why are numbers or accented letters not styled?
Unicode only defines styled versions of the basic Latin letters A–Z, a–z and, for some styles, the digits 0–9. Anything without a styled version, such as é, ñ or Chinese characters, is left unchanged.
Are these real fonts?
No. They are special Unicode characters that look like styled letters. That is why they survive copy and paste, unlike a font chosen in a word processor.
Can I use fancy text in my username?
Usually not in the @username itself, which most platforms restrict to plain letters, digits, dots and underscores. Display names, bios and messages accept them.
Is the fancy text generator free?
Yes. It is completely free, works offline once loaded, and your text never leaves your browser.
