Excel to PDF

Turn spreadsheets into clean, printable PDF tables — pick sheets, fit columns to the page and repeat headers.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Convert Excel spreadsheets to tidy PDF tables

The Excel to PDF converter turns workbooks into neat, printable PDF tables. Open an .xlsx, .xls, .xlsm, .ods or .csv file, choose which sheets to include, and get a PDF where every column fits the page, the header row repeats at the top of each page and long sheets break cleanly across pages.

It is made for sharing figures with people who should not edit them: fee and price lists, timetables, attendance sheets, invoices, GST summaries, mark lists and monthly reports. Numbers keep the display format from Excel — 1,234.50, 12%, ₹ or $ amounts — and the text in the PDF stays selectable and searchable.

Unlike online converters that upload your workbook to their server, this one reads and converts it entirely in your browser using the open-source SheetJS and jsPDF libraries. Nothing leaves your device, so salary sheets and customer lists stay private.

How to use the Excel to PDF

  1. Drop your spreadsheet onto the upload area or click it to choose a file.
  2. Tick the sheets you want in the PDF; hidden and empty sheets start unticked. Use the tabs to preview each sheet.
  3. Pick the paper size and orientation. “Automatic” makes wide sheets landscape and narrow ones portrait.
  4. Keep “Fit all columns on the page width” on to shrink wide sheets onto one page, and choose gridlines, a repeated header row and page numbers.
  5. Press “Convert to PDF” to download the file.

Excel to PDF features

Fit to page width

Column widths are measured from the content; if a sheet is too wide, the text is scaled down just enough for every column to fit — or untick the option to split wide sheets across pages, repeating the first column.

Header row on every page

The first row is repeated at the top of each page so long tables are always readable.

Choose your sheets

Include one, several or all sheets. Each sheet starts on a new page with its name at the top.

Formats kept

Numbers, dates, percentages and currency appear exactly as formatted in the workbook, right-aligned like in Excel. Merged cells stay merged; hidden rows and columns are left out, as Excel does when printing.

Unicode text

Rupee signs, accented, Greek and Cyrillic text are drawn with an embedded Noto Sans font when needed.

Selectable text

The PDF contains real text, not pictures, so it is small, sharp at any zoom, and searchable.

Choosing paper, orientation and text size

Your sheetSuggested settings
Up to about 8 columnsA4 or Letter, portrait, 9–10 pt
9–15 columnsLandscape (Automatic picks it), 8–9 pt, fit to width
16 or more columnsA3 landscape with fit to width, or untick fit to width to split columns over pages
Very long listsRepeat the first row on every page and keep page numbers on

What is not copied from Excel

The PDF is built from your cell values and number formats, not from Excel’s print engine. Cell colours, fonts, borders you drew yourself, charts, pictures, conditional formatting, and print areas or page breaks set in Excel are not reproduced — you get a clean, consistently styled table instead. Formulas show their last calculated value as saved in the file. If you need an exact replica of your Excel styling, use Excel’s own File → Save As → PDF.

Old .xls files and LibreOffice .ods files are supported. Password-protected workbooks must be unlocked first. Text in scripts outside Latin, Greek and Cyrillic (for example Hindi or Chinese) can’t be drawn by the embedded font.

Excel to PDF FAQ

How do I convert Excel to PDF for free?

Drop the .xlsx file above, tick the sheets you want and press “Convert to PDF”. The PDF downloads straight away — no sign-up and no watermark.

How do I fit an Excel sheet on one page width?

Keep “Fit all columns on the page width” ticked. Wide sheets are switched to landscape automatically and the text is scaled so every column fits.

Can I convert only one sheet of a workbook?

Yes. Untick the sheets you don’t want in “Sheets to include”. Each included sheet starts on a new page.

Does it work with CSV and old XLS files?

Yes. CSV, XLS, XLSX, XLSM, XLSB and ODS are supported. CSV values are kept exactly as written, so codes like 007 keep their leading zeros.

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?

No. The workbook is read and the PDF is created by JavaScript in your browser, on your device.

Why don’t my cell colours appear in the PDF?

The converter builds a clean table from cell values and number formats. Colours, charts and custom borders are not copied; use Excel’s own Save as PDF if you need them.
