Paryushan 2026 dates, Samvatsari and Das Lakshan Parva
This page gives the Paryushan 2026 dates and the dates for any other year: Shwetambar Paryushan Mahaparva, eight days ending on Samvatsari, and the Digambar Das Lakshan Parva, ten days from Bhadrapada Shukla Panchami to Ananta Chaturdashi, followed by Kshamavani. A table shows ten years at a time, and a day-by-day list shows each day’s tithi and, for Das Lakshan, the dharma of the day.
In 2026 Paryushan runs from Tuesday 8 to Tuesday 15 September, with Samvatsari on 15 September, and Das Lakshan from Wednesday 16 to Friday 25 September, with Kshamavani on 27 September (New Delhi). For the whole Jain year see the Jain calendar, and for daily vows by the clock pachchakhan times.

How the dates are calculated
Samvatsari is Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi — the fourth day of the bright half of Bhadrapada — taken as the day on which that tithi is current at sunrise. Paryushan is the eight days ending on it. Das Lakshan begins on Bhadrapada Shukla Panchami and ends on Shukla Chaturdashi (Ananta Chaturdashi); Kshamavani is kept the day after the full moon. When a tithi begins and ends between two sunrises, it is kept on the day it begins, following the Jain rule for a skipped (kshaya) tithi. The month is the amanta Bhadrapada, so an extra (adhika) month never displaces the festival.
Checked against published calendars: Paryushan 31 Aug – 7 Sep 2024, 20–27 Aug 2025, 8–15 Sep 2026 and 28 Aug – 4 Sep 2027; Das Lakshan 28 Aug – 6 Sep 2025 with Kshamavani on 8 Sep, and 16–25 Sep 2026.
| Observance | Tradition | Lunar date |
|---|---|---|
| Paryushan Mahaparva | Shwetambar (Murtipujak, Sthanakvasi, Terapanth) | Eight days ending on Samvatsari |
| Samvatsari | Shwetambar | Bhadrapada Shukla 4 (Panchami in some traditions) |
| Das Lakshan Parva | Digambar | Bhadrapada Shukla 5 to 14 |
| Kshamavani | Digambar | Day after Bhadrapada Purnima |
How the days are kept
During Paryushan many Shwetambar Jains fast (from a single day to all eight), attend daily pravachan, and hear the Kalpa Sutra read, including the account of Bhagwan Mahavir’s birth. The festival closes with Samvatsari pratikraman and the asking of forgiveness. In Das Lakshan Digambar Jains reflect on one of the ten supreme virtues each day, beginning with Uttam Kshama, often reading a chapter of the Tattvartha Sutra, and close with Kshamavani.
Why your sangh may show a different day
Different sanghs print their own panchang. Some use another city’s sunrise or traditional tithi tables; some keep Samvatsari on Panchami, as it was before Acharya Kalakacharya moved it to Chaturthi; and communities abroad often follow the date in India rather than local sunrise. Community programmes such as a Kshamavani puja are also often held on the nearest weekend. When in doubt, follow your sangh, guru or temple.
