Ramadan countdown: how many days until Ramadan
This Ramadan countdown shows, live to the second, how many days are left until the first day of Ramadan — and, with one click, until Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, the Day of Arafah, Laylat al-Qadr, the Islamic New Year, Ashura, Mawlid, Isra and Mi’raj or Shab-e-Barat. Below it, a table lists all of these with their expected dates and the days left.
The expected date depends on how your country starts the month. Choose the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar, the South Asia setting (usually one day later) or the tabular calendar, and adjust by a day or two when your local moon-sighting committee announces a different start.

How the expected date is worked out
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which follows the Moon: each month begins with the new crescent, and a year of twelve months is about 354 days, so Ramadan comes about 11 days earlier every year. By the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia, Ramadan 1448 begins on Monday 8 February 2027 and Eid al-Fitr is on Tuesday 9 March 2027; Ramadan 1449 begins on Friday 28 January 2028.
Many countries begin the month only after the crescent has been seen, which is often a day later than Umm al-Qura; India’s official holiday list for 2027 gives Eid al-Fitr on 10 March and Eid al-Adha on 17 May. The countdown ends at midnight at the start of the expected day in your time zone, while the night of a holy day — and the first Taraweeh prayer of Ramadan — begins at sunset the evening before. The dates use the same Hijri engine as the Hijri date converter and the Islamic holidays list.
| Day | Umm al-Qura | South Asia (+1 day) |
|---|---|---|
| Ramadan 1448 begins | Mon 8 Feb 2027 | Tue 9 Feb 2027 |
| Eid al-Fitr 1448 | Tue 9 Mar 2027 | Wed 10 Mar 2027 |
| Eid al-Adha 1448 | Sun 16 May 2027 | Mon 17 May 2027 |
| Ramadan 1449 begins | Fri 28 Jan 2028 | Sat 29 Jan 2028 |
Preparing for Ramadan
Many people use the last weeks before Ramadan to plan meals, make up missed fasts, set Qur’an reading goals and plan their zakat and charity. The Ramadan planner prints a 30-day tracker, and Sehri and Iftar times gives the daily fasting times for your city.
