Islamic holidays calendar for any year
This page lists the Islamic holidays of a year with their Hijri dates: the first day of Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr, Eid al-Fitr, the Day of Arafah, Eid al-Adha, the Islamic New Year, Ashura (the Muharram holiday), Mawlid an-Nabi, Isra and Mi’raj and Shab-e-Barat. A ten-year table shows when Ramadan and the two Eids fall in the years ahead.
Because Islamic months begin with the sighting of the new moon, dates differ between countries. Choose the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar, the India–Pakistan–Bangladesh setting (usually a day later) or the tabular calendar, and move every date by a day or two to match your local announcement. For 2026 and 2027 the Indian government’s gazetted dates are shown alongside.

Why Islamic holidays move each year
The Islamic (Hijri) calendar has twelve lunar months of 29 or 30 days, about 354 days in all, so every holiday comes about 11 days earlier in the Gregorian calendar each year and goes round the seasons in about 33 years. In some years a holiday happens twice — the Islamic New Year fell on 10 January and again on 29 December 2008.
Saudi Arabia publishes the Umm al-Qura calendar, which this page uses (the same table as the browser’s islamic-umalqura calendar, checked day by day in the automatic test). Many countries start the month only when the crescent is actually seen, which is often a day later; in India the central-government lists for 2026 and 2027 put Eid al-Fitr, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi one day after Umm al-Qura, and Eid al-Adha 2026 on the same day. The tabular calendar is a fixed arithmetic cycle used for planning. To convert any single date use the Hijri date converter.
| Day | Hijri date | Umm al-Qura 2026 | Umm al-Qura 2027 |

The holy nights
An Islamic day begins at sunset, so the night belongs to the following day. Shab-e-Barat is the night between 14 and 15 Sha’ban, Laylat al-Qadr is sought in the odd nights of the last ten of Ramadan (the 27th is most widely observed), and the night of Isra and Mi’raj is the eve of 27 Rajab. For the daily fasting times see Sehri and Iftar times, and for a live countdown the Ramadan countdown.
