A muhurat finder that shows its rules
This muhurat finder searches the coming days for windows that pass the usual panchang rules for a purpose — griha pravesh (house warming), marriage, vehicle purchase, the naming ceremony or starting work. For every day it shows the weekday, tithi, nakshatra, yoga and lunar month with a ✓ or ✗, and lists the candidate windows left after Rahu Kaal and Bhadra are cut out. Use it for muhurat today, a month ahead, or up to 90 days, in India or abroad (muhurat today USA works with local sunrise and time zones).
Muhurat rules differ by tradition and region, so this is a rule-based shortlist, not an authority: every rule is visible and editable, and nothing here is a guarantee. It is for tradition and entertainment, not prediction or advice.
How to use the Muhurat Finder (Griha Pravesh, Marriage, Vehicle)
- Choose the Purpose; its preset rules are loaded.
- Set From (today by default) and Days to search, then your City or coordinates.
- Read the table: green rows have a candidate window; the last column gives the first window or the rule that failed.
- Press Why? on any day for the rule-by-rule check with times.
- Open Rules used to tick or untick nakshatras, tithis, weekdays, months and exclusions so they match your family’s panchang, then Copy the shortlist.
Muhurat Finder (Griha Pravesh, Marriage, Vehicle) features
Every rule visible
Each day shows which rules pass and which fail, and the Why? panel gives the times of every tithi, nakshatra and yoga change.
Editable presets
Eight purposes — including the baby ceremonies mundan, annaprashan and karnavedha — with one commonly published rule set each; change any nakshatra, tithi, weekday, month or exclusion.
Windows, not just dates
The day is cut at each tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana change and at Rahu Kaal, so you see from-to times rather than a whole date.
Lunar months and seasons
Amanta lunar months with adhik masa, Chaturmas, Kharmas and Jupiter or Venus combustion are computed, not looked up.
Checked against a published list
The self-test compares six griha pravesh windows for New Delhi in 2026 with a widely used online panchang, to within three minutes.
The preset rules (one common version)
These are the presets this page starts with, collected in October 2026 from the rules Indian panchangs publish and from the Muhurta Chintamani conventions they cite. Every preset skips the rikta tithis (4, 9, 14), Ashtami and Amavasya, avoids Vyatipata and Vaidhriti yoga and Bhadra (Vishti karana), and cuts out Rahu Kaal.

How the search works
Each Hindu day runs from local sunrise to the next sunrise. The page finds every moment that day when the tithi (each 12° of Moon–Sun elongation), nakshatra (each 13°20′ of the sidereal Moon), yoga and karana change, plus the Rahu Kaal and lunar-month boundaries, and tests the rules between them. Neighbouring passing pieces are joined into windows, and windows shorter than five minutes are dropped. Combustion is checked at sunrise: Jupiter within 11° of the Sun, Venus within 10° (8° when retrograde), the values usually tabulated from the Surya Siddhanta. Lunar months are amanta (new moon to new moon), named by the solar sign at the opening new moon. To narrow a window further, pair it with the choghadiya or hora of that day.
What this page does not check
It does not choose a lagna (the rising sign at the moment), and it does not check tara bala, chandra bala or the personal charts of the bride and groom or the owner — for a couple, the kundli matching page covers guna milan. Kshaya months, eclipse days, Pitru Paksha and Holashtak are not excluded, and published lists may treat Krishna paksha, Saturday or Bhadra differently. Windows are given to the minute, but small differences in sunrise or ayanamsa can move an edge by a minute or two.
Muhurat Finder (Griha Pravesh, Marriage, Vehicle) FAQ
Is there a good muhurat today?
Set From to today and Days to 7: the first row is today, with its candidate window or the rule that failed. Choose the purpose first, since each has different rules.
What is the muhurat for griha pravesh?
Choose Griha pravesh: the page lists days with an allowed nakshatra, tithi, weekday and month, outside Rahu Kaal and Bhadra, with the window times.
Can I find muhurat for marriage in 2026?
Yes — choose Marriage, set the start date and search up to 90 days at a time. Months in Chaturmas and Kharmas are skipped by the preset.
Does it work for muhurat today in the USA?
Yes. Pick a US city or your coordinates; sunrise, Rahu Kaal and the windows are in local time with daylight saving time.
Why does another panchang give different dates?
Rules differ by tradition and region — for example whether Saturday, Krishna paksha or Bhadra is allowed. Open Rules used and change the ticks to match.
Is a muhurat from this page guaranteed to be auspicious?
No. It is a rule-based shortlist for tradition and entertainment, not prediction or advice; families usually confirm a date with their priest.
