QR Code Generator

Make QR codes for links, Wi-Fi, UPI payments, contacts and more — with colours, logo, PNG and SVG.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

A free QR code generator for links, Wi-Fi, UPI and contacts

This QR code generator turns a link, a block of text, your Wi-Fi login, an email or SMS, a phone number, a digital business card, a UPI payment request or a map location into a code any phone camera can scan. Pick the content type, fill in the fields and the code redraws instantly. Then download it as a PNG for screens and documents or as an SVG for sharp printing at any size.

The codes are static: the information is stored inside the pattern itself, not behind a redirect service. That means they never expire, never show ads, keep working even if Galaxy of Tools disappeared, and nobody tracks who scans them. Everything is generated in your browser, so Wi-Fi passwords and payment IDs are never sent to a server.

How to use the QR Code Generator

  1. Choose what the code should do: URL, Text, Wi-Fi, Email, Phone, SMS, Contact, UPI or Location.
  2. Fill in the fields. The preview updates as you type, and any problem (an invalid UPI ID, a short Wi-Fi password) is explained under the code.
  3. Optionally pick the error-correction level, image size, quiet-zone margin and colours, or add a centre logo.
  4. Scan the preview with your own phone to check it opens what you expect.
  5. Press “Download PNG” or “Download SVG”, or “Copy image” to paste it straight into a document or chat.

QR Code Generator features

Nine content types

Websites, plain text, Wi-Fi join codes, pre-filled emails and SMS, tap-to-call numbers, vCard contacts, UPI payments and geo locations.

Correct encoding

Wi-Fi names and passwords with special characters are escaped properly, vCard fields follow version 3.0 and UPI links use the standard upi://pay format.

PNG and true vector SVG

PNG up to 2048 px with crisp, whole-pixel modules, plus an SVG that stays razor sharp on banners and packaging.

Colours with a contrast check

Match your brand colours while the tool warns about low-contrast or inverted combinations that scanners struggle with.

Centre logo

Drop in a logo and the generator switches to High error correction and keeps a clean padded area so the code still scans.

Private and permanent

No sign-up, no tracking redirect and no expiry date — the data lives in the code itself.

QR code size and printing guidelines

A QR code that looks perfect on screen can fail on paper. These rules of thumb keep printed codes reliable:

  • Minimum size: about 2 × 2 cm (0.8 × 0.8 in) for short links on business cards and labels. Longer content makes denser codes, so print them larger — the tool suggests a minimum width for each code.
  • Scanning distance: a phone reads a code from roughly ten times its width. A poster seen from 2 metres needs a code at least 20 cm wide.
  • Keep the quiet zone: leave the default 4-module margin of plain background around the code. Text or artwork touching the edge is the most common reason codes fail.
  • Use SVG for print so the modules stay sharp, and avoid stretching the code — it must stay square.
  • Shorter is better: a short URL creates a simpler pattern that scans faster in poor light. Use the UTM Builder if you need campaign tracking, then keep the final link as short as possible.
  • Test before you print hundreds — scan a printed proof with both an Android phone and an iPhone.

Choosing an error correction level

QR codes use Reed–Solomon error correction, so part of the code can be dirty, damaged or covered and still decode. More correction adds more modules, making the code denser. Medium is a good default for screens and clean prints; choose Quartile or High for outdoor signs, product labels that get scuffed, or when you place a logo over the centre.

LevelData that can be restoredGood for
L – Lowabout 7%Long content shown on screens
M – Mediumabout 15%Everyday use, flyers, menus
Q – Quartileabout 25%Labels, packaging, outdoor print
H – Highabout 30%Codes with a centre logo, harsh conditions

What happens when each type is scanned

  • Wi-Fi: Android and iPhone cameras offer to join the network without typing the password — ideal for guest rooms, cafés and offices.
  • UPI: opens the payer’s UPI app with your UPI ID, name and (optionally) a fixed amount and note filled in. Leave the amount empty for a reusable shop code.
  • Contact (vCard): shows a “Create contact” card with the name, number, email and company — handy on business cards.
  • Email and SMS: open a new message with the address, subject and text already written; the person just presses send.
  • Location: a geo: link opens the maps app on Android. Some iPhone camera versions ignore geo:, so for iPhone-heavy audiences you can paste a maps share link into the URL type instead.

QR Code Generator FAQ

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. You can create unlimited QR codes for personal or commercial use with no account, no watermark and no expiry. Static codes keep working forever because the content is stored in the code itself.

Do the QR codes expire or track scans?

No. They are static codes with no redirect in between, so they never expire and no scan data is collected. If you need scan statistics, add UTM parameters to your link and read them in your own analytics.

How do I make a QR code for my Wi-Fi?

Choose Wi-Fi, type the network name exactly as it appears on your devices, enter the password and pick the security type (WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for almost all modern routers). Print the code and guests can join by pointing their camera at it.

Can I create a UPI QR code to receive payments?

Yes. Choose UPI, enter your UPI ID (for example name@okaxis or your number@ybl) and payee name. Leave the amount empty so customers type it, or enter a fixed amount for a specific bill. Always scan it yourself once to confirm the right name appears before displaying it.

Will adding a logo stop the QR code from scanning?

Not if it stays small. The tool limits the logo to about a quarter of the code’s width, surrounds it with a plain pad and forces High error correction, which can restore around 30% of the code. Always test-scan the downloaded file.

Should I download PNG or SVG?

PNG is best for websites, documents, slides and messaging apps. SVG is a vector file, ideal for professional printing, signage and design software because it scales to any size without blurring.

Why won’t my coloured QR code scan?

Scanners need strong contrast between a dark code and a light background. Pale colours, light-on-dark (inverted) codes and busy backgrounds often fail. Keep the contrast warning clear and leave the quiet zone around the code.
