A thesis statement generator that uses templates, not AI
A thesis statement is the one sentence that tells your reader what your essay claims and why. This thesis statement generator works from templates, not artificial intelligence: you choose an essay type, type your topic, your claim and up to three reasons, and the tool slots your own words into several tried sentence patterns — a classic claim-with-reasons form, a concession form, a reasons-first form and more.
Because it only rearranges what you write, the result is yours: nothing is invented, nothing is uploaded, and there is no sign-up or limit. Quick checks then flag the usual weak spots — too long or too short, more than one sentence, “this essay will…”, vague words, and a claim that nobody could disagree with.
How to use the Thesis Statement Builder
- Choose the essay type — argumentative, analytical, expository, compare and contrast, cause and effect, problem–solution or research paper.
- Fill in the fields, which change with the type. Keep the claim and each reason short and specific.
- Read the patterns that appear, and press “Check this one” on the one that fits your essay.
- Use the quick checks to tighten it, then copy the sentence into your draft.
- Revise the wording so it sounds like you, and make sure your paragraphs follow the reasons in order.

What a strong thesis statement looks like
A good thesis is a single, specific sentence that makes a claim someone could argue with and signals the reasons. “Social media is bad” is a topic and an opinion; “Social media use in the evenings lowers sleep quality for teenagers because it replaces unwinding time with comparison and notifications” is a thesis. The reasons in the sentence become the topic sentences of your body paragraphs, so choose reasons you can prove.
The usual formula is specific topic + position + reasons. For analysis, the position is what a text does or means; for cause and effect it is the link between the two; for compare and contrast it is the shared ground plus the differences that matter.
| Weak | Stronger |
|---|---|
| This essay will talk about school uniforms. | School uniforms should be optional because they limit self-expression without measurably improving behaviour. |
| Pollution is bad. | Tighter emission limits would cut city asthma rates faster than any other single measure. |
| There are many differences between cats and dogs. | Although cats and dogs both make good companions, they differ in daily care, training and independence. |
Tips for each essay type
For an argumentative essay, include the concession form if you plan to answer an objection; it shows you have thought about the other side. For a research paper, name the evidence you rely on, since the thesis should reflect what the research shows, not what you hope it shows. For a compare and contrast essay, decide first whether you will organise by subject or by point, and put the points of difference in the order you will cover them.
When you have a thesis, an essay outline turns the reasons into paragraphs, and the research title generator helps with the title. Cite sources with the citation generator.
Thesis Statement Builder FAQ
How do I write a thesis statement?
State a specific topic, take a position someone could dispute, and name one to three reasons, all in one sentence. The patterns here do that with your own words.
Is this a thesis statement generator without AI?
Yes. It uses fixed sentence templates and your own input; no AI model or online service is involved.
Can it write a thesis statement for a research paper?
Yes. Choose “Research paper”, give your finding and the evidence or sources, and add a limitation if you want a concession form.
What is a good thesis for a compare and contrast essay?
One that names both subjects, their shared ground and the differences you will cover, for example “Although A and B both…, they differ in X, Y and Z.”
How long should a thesis statement be?
Usually one sentence of about 15 to 40 words. The length check flags anything outside 12 to 45.
Will the generator do my assignment?
No. It rearranges your own claim and reasons into sentences. You still need the argument, the evidence and the writing.
