Calculate your marks from the response sheet and answer key
This marks calculator from response sheet reads the response sheet that NTA or SSC shows you after a computer-based test, matches every question with the official answer key, and adds up your score with the exam’s marking scheme. Paste the text of the sheet or drop the saved page (HTML, single-file MHTML or PDF), add the key for your shift, and you get your total, section-wise marks and a question-by-question table you can download as CSV.
It understands the standard digialm format used for JEE Main, CUET, SSC and RRB sheets — Question ID, Option 1–4 IDs, Status and Chosen Option for multiple-choice questions and Given Answer for numerical ones — and keys written as Question ID with the correct option ID, the numerical answer or “Drop”. NEET answers can be typed as “question answer” pairs. Everything is read in your browser; the sheet, which carries your name and roll number, is never uploaded.
How to use the Response Sheet Marks Calculator
- Choose your exam. The marking scheme comes from the official notice, linked under the result.
- Open your response sheet, press Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C, and paste it into 1. Your response sheet — or save the page and drop the HTML or PDF file there.
- Put the answer key for your exact date and shift into 2. Answer key: paste it, or drop the key PDF. SSC and RRB sheets saved as HTML already contain the answers, and the key box fills itself.
- Pick how dropped questions are treated, then read your marks, the section table and any notes about lines that were not understood.
- Open Question by question to check each answer, and use Download CSV or Copy result to keep it.
Response Sheet Marks Calculator features
Robust key matching
Correct options are matched by option ID, so a key PDF whose columns come apart still scores multiple-choice questions correctly; numerical answers are paired by row or by reading order, whichever is consistent.
Numerical and multi-answer questions
Numerical answers can be single values or ranges (“1.5 to 1.6”); a question with two correct options gives marks for either; multiple-select questions need the exact set.
Dropped questions
NTA’s rule (full marks to every candidate) by default, or marks only for those who attempted, or none.
Clear error reporting
Every line it could not read is quoted back with its question number, and questions missing from the key are listed — usually a sign of a key from another shift.
PDF, HTML and MHTML
PDFs are read with Mozilla’s pdf.js (Apache-2.0), loaded only when you drop a PDF; saved web pages are read directly.
How the marks are counted
- Attempted: a chosen option or a given answer, with status Answered or “Answered and Marked For Review” (NTA evaluates those). “Marked For Review” without an answer is blank.
- Correct: the chosen option’s ID is a correct option ID in the key, or the given numerical answer equals the key (or falls in its range).
- Marks: correct × marks per question − wrong × deduction for each part of the paper, using the same schemes as the marks calculator with negative marking — +4/−1 for JEE Main and NEET 2026, +5/−1 for CUET, +2/−0.50 for SSC CGL Tier-I.
- Dropped: the JEE (Main), NEET (UG) and CUET (UG) 2026 bulletins award full marks to all candidates who appeared in that shift.
Formats it reads
Portals change their layout from year to year. If your sheet is not recognised, the notes say exactly which lines failed; pasting the plain text usually works when a saved file does not. JEE Advanced partial marking for multiple-select questions is not modelled — each one is all-or-nothing here.
| Exam | Response sheet | Answer key |
|---|---|---|
| JEE Main, CUET (UG/PG) | digialm sheet: Question ID, Option IDs, Chosen Option / Given Answer | Question ID → correct option ID or value (PDF or text) |
| SSC, RRB | digialm sheet; the HTML version marks correct options with ticks | Read from the ticks in the saved HTML |
| NEET (UG) | Pen-and-paper: type “question answer” pairs from your recorded responses | Pairs or a string such as CABAD… |
| Any other exam | Pairs or digialm text | Custom marks, deduction and numerical deduction |
Response Sheet Marks Calculator FAQ
How do I calculate JEE Main marks from the response sheet?
Paste your JEE Main response sheet and the answer key for your shift, keep JEE Main 2026 selected, and the calculator counts +4 for each correct answer and −1 for each wrong one in both sections.
Can I use the response sheet PDF?
Yes. Drop the PDF and its text is extracted in your browser with pdf.js. Scanned PDFs have no text — copy the text from the web page instead.
Why does it say questions are not in the key?
Each shift has its own question IDs. If many questions are missing, the key is from another date or shift.
Does this marks calculator from response sheet work for NEET?
Yes. NEET is a pen-and-paper exam, so type your recorded responses as “question answer” pairs and paste the key the same way.
Is my response sheet uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and scored on your device; nothing is sent to a server.
Why is my calculated score different from the scorecard?
The final key can drop or change answers, and multi-shift exams normalise raw marks. Use the normalization calculator to see how that works.
