An age limit calculator for UPSC, SSC, banking and defence exams
Every government exam checks your age on one fixed day — the “age as on” or cut-off date in its notice — and the upper limit moves with your category. This govt exam age limit calculator takes your date of birth, works out your exact age on that day, and tells you whether you are eligible for the exam you pick, with OBC, SC/ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxation applied the way that exam’s notice says.
The limits are copied from the current official notices: UPSC Civil Services 2026, SSC CGL 2026, SSC CHSL 2026, IBPS PO/MT-XVI 2026, NDA & NA (II) 2026 and CDS (II) 2026. For RRB, state PSC or any other recruitment, choose Custom and type the numbers from your notice. A table below the result shows your status in every listed exam at once.
How to use the Govt Exam Age Limit Calculator
- Enter your date of birth exactly as it appears on your Class 10 (matriculation) certificate — that is the only date commissions accept.
- Choose the exam; for SSC CGL pick your post’s age band, for CDS the academy.
- Choose your category, tick PwBD if it applies, and pick ex-serviceman (with your years of service) or disabled defence personnel if relevant.
- Read the verdict, your age on the cut-off date, your birth-date window and the relaxation used. Press Copy result to save it.
Govt Exam Age Limit Calculator features
Exact age on the cut-off date
Completed years, months and days on the exam’s “age as on” date, not today.
Relaxation by the notice’s rules
UPSC and IBPS add the category years to PwBD or ex-servicemen; SSC uses its relaxation codes, including service deducted from an ex-serviceman’s age.
Birth-date windows
Shows the first and last birth dates allowed for you — the form the notices themselves use.
All exams at once
One date of birth, every listed exam and post band, eligible or not.
Custom rule
Any RRB, state PSC or PSU notice: cut-off date, ages, relaxations and the notice’s wording of the upper limit.
Age limits in the 2026 notices
Upper age relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC (non-creamy layer) 3, PwBD 10 in all three civil exams. UPSC also gives ex-servicemen with five years’ service 5 years and disabled defence personnel 3, added to SC/ST/OBC relaxation. SSC gives PwBD (OBC) 13 and PwBD (SC/ST) 15, and ex-servicemen 3 years after deducting their military service from their age. IBPS gives ex-servicemen 5 years and adds SC/ST/OBC relaxation to only one of PwBD or ex-servicemen. NDA and CDS have no category relaxation. EWS candidates get no age relaxation.

How the age is checked
The notices word the upper limit as “must not have attained” the age on the cut-off date. So the UPSC limit of 32 on 1 August 2026 means born on or after 2 August 1994: someone born on 1 August 1994 turns 32 on the cut-off date and is out. The minimum works the other way — a candidate who turns 21 on 1 August 2026 is in. The calculator applies the same rule to every exam, and its birth-date windows match the dates printed in each notice.
Relaxation raises the upper age, so an OBC candidate for UPSC may be up to 34 years 364 days old on the cut-off date. For an SSC ex-serviceman, years and months of military service are taken off your age before the 27 + 3 limit is checked. Some state notices say “not more than 40 years” instead; Custom lets you choose that wording, which allows the full year of that age.
RRB, state PSC and other exams
Railway (RRB) CENs and state PSC notices set their own cut-off dates — often 1 January or 1 July — and some states add relaxation for their own domiciles, women or government employees. These could not be checked against an official copy here, so they are not preset. Use Custom with the figures in your notice. For marks and answer keys after the exam, the negative marking calculator scores UPSC, SSC and IBPS papers, and the age calculator gives your age on any date.
Govt Exam Age Limit Calculator FAQ
How do I use an age limit calculator for UPSC?
Enter your date of birth from your Class 10 certificate, choose UPSC Civil Services 2026 and your category. The calculator checks your age on 1 August 2026 against 21 to under 32, plus 3 years for OBC, 5 for SC/ST, 10 for PwBD and 5 for eligible ex-servicemen.
What is the SSC CGL age limit for OBC?
Three years more than your post’s upper limit: 30 for an 18–27 post, 33 for 20–30 and 18–30 posts, 35 for an 18–32 post, all as on 1 August 2026. PwBD (OBC) candidates get 13 years.
How is NDA age calculated?
NDA does not use an “age as on” rule with relaxation; the notice gives a birth-date window. For NDA (II) 2026 you must be unmarried and born between 1 January 2008 and 1 January 2011, both dates included.
Which date of birth is used?
Only the one recorded in your matriculation or secondary school certificate. Commissions do not accept affidavits, horoscopes or municipal birth extracts, and do not change it later.
Is the result an official decision?
No. It applies the notices as published by 24 October 2026. Eligibility is decided by the commission from your documents, and a new notice can change the limits.
