A Duolingo to IELTS converter that uses Duolingo’s own table
This Duolingo to IELTS converter looks up your Duolingo English Test (DET) score, from 10 to 160, in the comparison table published on Duolingo’s own scores page and shows the IELTS Academic band, the TOEFL iBT score on the original 0–120 scale and the CEFR level next to it. You can also start from an IELTS band or a TOEFL total and read off the DET range.
Charts that circulate online disagree with each other — some are half a band more generous or stricter — so the page uses one source only, names it, and gives the date it was read. Where Duolingo has published nothing, for example a mapping to the new 1–6 TOEFL scale, the tool says “not published” instead of filling the gap.

Why Duolingo, IELTS and TOEFL charts disagree
Each comparison comes from a study of people who took both tests, and the result depends on who was in the sample, when they tested and how the tests were scored at the time. Duolingo has revised its published table over the years, so an older PDF or a blog post can show a different IELTS band for the same DET score. If an institution publishes its own accepted Duolingo score, that figure beats any converter.

Using the result
Treat the converted score as a guide when you plan which test to take or whether a score is likely to meet a requirement. DET 120 and 125 both sit against IELTS 6.5 in Duolingo’s table.
How do I convert TOEFL to Duolingo?
Choose TOEFL (0–120), type your total and read the DET row that contains it. TOEFL 100, for example, is DET 130 in Duolingo’s table.
Is there a Duolingo conversion for the new TOEFL 1–6 scale?
Not from Duolingo, and ETS says it has not carried out a DET concordance study. Compare by CEFR level instead.
Why do other websites show different numbers?
