An Express Entry CRS calculator that follows IRCC’s grid
This CRS calculator estimates your Comprehensive Ranking System score, the number Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) uses to rank profiles in the Express Entry pool. It adds up the same four blocks as IRCC’s published grid — core human capital, spouse or partner factors, skill transferability and additional points — and shows each factor and its maximum, so you can see where your points come from and what is missing.
Every table is taken from the grid on the canada.ca page dated 16 October 2026, and the page names that source. IRCC has announced that the way Canadian work experience and job offers earn points changes on 3 November 2026, so a box lets you add those points yourself once the new rules are published. Everything is calculated in your browser, and nothing about you is sent anywhere.
How to use the Express Entry CRS Points Calculator
- Say whether a spouse or common-law partner is coming with you; if not, or if they are a citizen or permanent resident, choose “No spouse”.
- Enter your age, education and years of Canadian work experience.
- Pick your CLB level for each ability in your first official language, and in a second language if you have one.
- Add foreign work experience, a trade certificate, a sibling in Canada, Canadian study or a provincial nomination.
- Read the total and the factor-by-factor table, and copy the result if you need it.
Express Entry CRS Points Calculator features
The full grid
Age, education, first and second language, Canadian work, spouse factors, skill transferability and additional points, with maxima that add to 1,200.
With and without a spouse
The two scoring versions switch with one control, including the spouse’s own education, language and work.
Transferability combinations
Education with language or Canadian work, foreign work with language or Canadian work, and trade certificates, with each cap applied.
Room for the November change
An “other points” box takes anything you need to add after IRCC’s changes take effect.
How the 1,200 points are built
The four blocks and their maxima in IRCC’s grid:
| Block | With spouse or partner | Without |
|---|---|---|
| Core human capital | 460 | 500 |
| Spouse or partner factors | 40 | — |
| Skill transferability | 100 | 100 |
| Additional points | 600 | 600 |
| Total | 1,200 | 1,200 |
Worked example
A single applicant aged 29 with a bachelor’s degree, CLB 9 in all four abilities and one year of Canadian work experience gets 110 for age, 120 for education, 124 for language (31 for each ability) and 40 for work — 394 core points. With three years of foreign work, the transferability block adds 38 for education (25 with language and 13 with Canadian work) and 50 for foreign work, which is 88. The total is 482 before any additional points.
Points per ability matter: moving from CLB 8 to CLB 9 adds 8 points in each of four abilities for a single applicant. The IELTS to CLB calculator shows which test scores reach each level.
Limits of this estimate
IRCC decides what counts as eligible work, education and language results, and calculates your official score from your profile. The grid itself can change: the arranged-employment points were removed earlier in 2025, and IRCC has announced further changes for 3 November 2026. This tool is information, not immigration advice, so check your profile against the IRCC page before you act, and consider a licensed consultant or lawyer for complex cases. Express Entry CRS Points Calculator FAQ
How is the CRS score calculated?
IRCC adds core human capital points (age, education, language, Canadian work), spouse factors if applicable, skill transferability combinations and additional points such as a provincial nomination, for a maximum of 1,200.
How many CRS points does a provincial nomination give?
600 points, which is why a nomination almost guarantees an invitation.
Does a job offer give CRS points?
Not in the grid published on 16 October 2026. IRCC says it changes how valid job offers earn points from 3 November 2026, so check the new grid then.
Which language level does skill transferability use?
Your first official language: CLB 7 or higher in all four abilities earns the first tier and CLB 9 or higher the second.
What if my spouse is a Canadian citizen or is not coming with me?
Then you are scored as a single applicant: no spouse points, and the higher “without spouse” values for your own factors.
Is this my official CRS score?
No. It is an estimate from IRCC’s grid. Your official score is the one IRCC shows for your Express Entry profile.
