Convert SVG to PNG at any resolution
SVG is a vector format: logos, icons and illustrations stay perfectly sharp at any size. But many places only accept bitmap images — social networks, email signatures, Microsoft Office on older versions, app stores and some content management systems. This SVG to PNG converter renders your SVG into a crisp PNG, JPG or WebP at exactly the size you need.
Upload an .svg file or paste SVG code straight from a design tool, icon library or web page. The converter works out the real size from the SVG’s width, height and viewBox — including SVGs that have no width or height at all — then lets you export at 1×, 2×, 4× or any custom width with a transparent or coloured background. Rendering uses your browser’s own SVG engine, so nothing is uploaded.
How to use the SVG to PNG Converter
- Drop an .svg file onto the upload area, or paste SVG code into the “SVG code” box. A sample logo is loaded so you can try it straight away.
- Check the detected size under the code box — it tells you whether it came from width/height, the viewBox or a default.
- Pick the output size: 1×, 2× (for sharp screens), 4× (for print), or “Custom width” to type an exact pixel width.
- Choose PNG, JPG or WebP, and either keep the background transparent or pick a background colour.
- Review the preview and press the download button.
SVG to PNG Converter features
Upload or paste code
Works with .svg files and raw SVG markup copied from Figma, Illustrator, Inkscape, icon sets or a website’s source.
Smart size detection
Reads width and height in px, pt, mm, cm or inches, falls back to the viewBox, and handles SVGs without dimensions.
Any output resolution
Scale 1×, 2× or 4×, or set a custom width up to 8192 px — vectors are re-rendered, not stretched, so edges stay sharp.
Transparency or background
PNG and WebP keep transparent areas; choose any background colour, and JPG gets white automatically.
Fixes common SVG problems
Missing xmlns declarations (typical of inline SVG copied from HTML) and undeclared xlink prefixes are added for you.
Private
Your artwork is rendered locally in the browser and never sent to a server.
How SVG size, viewBox and scaling work
An SVG’s viewBox defines its internal coordinate system (for example 0 0 24 24 for most icons), while width and height set its display size. When an SVG has only a viewBox, browsers stretch it to fit its container, so it has no fixed pixel size — the converter uses the viewBox numbers as the 1× size in that case.
Because SVG is vector, exporting at 4× is not the same as enlarging a PNG: every curve is recalculated at the higher resolution. That makes 2× ideal for retina screens and 4× (or a large custom width) right for print, where you typically want 300 pixels per inch. A 2-inch-wide printed logo, for example, needs about 600 px.
| Use | Suggested PNG size |
|---|---|
| Website logo (retina) | 2× the CSS size, e.g. 400 × 100 for a 200 × 50 logo |
| Favicon and app icons | 512 × 512 (then create smaller sizes) |
| Social media profile picture | 400 × 400 to 1080 × 1080 |
| Email signature logo | 2× display size, under 100 KB |
| Print (300 DPI) | Width in inches × 300 |
Tips for a perfect conversion
- Fonts: SVGs that use web fonts render with a fallback font when converted. In your design tool, convert text to outlines/paths before exporting the SVG.
- Linked images: images referenced by URL are blocked for security; embed them as data URIs or use a self-contained SVG export.
- CSS from the page: inline SVG copied from a website may rely on the page’s stylesheet for colours. Add the fill and stroke attributes directly or include a <style> block inside the SVG.
- Need several icon sizes? Use the Favicon Generator to produce 16 px to 512 px icons plus favicon.ico from one image.
- File too big? Shrink the PNG with the Image Compressor, or convert between bitmap formats with the Image Converter.
SVG to PNG Converter FAQ
How do I convert an SVG to a high-resolution PNG?
Load the SVG, choose 4× or “Custom width” and enter the pixel width you need (up to 8192 px), then press “Download PNG”. Because the vector is re-rendered at that size, the PNG stays sharp.
Will the PNG keep a transparent background?
Yes. PNG and WebP keep transparent areas when “Transparent” is ticked. JPG doesn’t support transparency, so a white (or chosen) background is added.
Why is my SVG converted at 300 × 150 pixels?
That happens when an SVG has neither width/height nor a viewBox, so browsers fall back to 300 × 150. Add a viewBox to the SVG, or simply choose “Custom width” to set the output size yourself.
Why does the text look different in the PNG?
The SVG probably uses a font that isn’t installed on your device or is loaded from the web. Convert the text to paths in your design tool, or install the font locally before converting.
Can I convert SVG code copied from a website?
Yes. Paste the whole <svg>…</svg> element into the code box. Missing namespace declarations are added automatically; colours set by the website’s CSS may need to be added as attributes.
Is this SVG to PNG converter free and private?
It is completely free with no sign-up or watermark, and the conversion happens inside your browser, so your files never leave your device.
