Convert SVG to a real vector PDF

Many online converters turn an SVG into a PDF by taking a picture of it, which throws away the very thing that makes SVG useful. This SVG to PDF converter draws your SVG into the PDF as real vector paths and real text, so lines stay razor-sharp at any zoom level and on any printer, and the words can be selected and searched.

Use the SVG’s own size for the page, or fit the drawing onto A4, US Letter, A3 or Legal paper with a margin. Several SVGs can become one multi-page PDF or separate PDFs. The conversion uses the open-source jsPDF and svg2pdf.js libraries, both MIT-licensed, inside your browser, so your files never leave your device.

How to convert SVG to PDF

    1. Drop .svg files on the upload area, or paste SVG code under Paste SVG code instead.
    2. Choose a Page size: Same size as the SVG, or a paper size with a Margin.
    3. Keep the Drawing method on Vector (sharp, selectable text), or choose Image at 300 DPI (exact browser look) for SVGs that rely on filters.
    4. Pick the Output: one PDF with a page per SVG, or a separate PDF for each SVG. The PDF is rebuilt whenever you change a setting.
    5. Press Download PDF, or the ZIP button when you have several separate PDFs.

    SVG to PDF Converter features

    True vector output

Paths, shapes, gradients, patterns, clipping paths and text are written as PDF vector graphics, not as a picture.

    Selectable text

SVG text becomes real PDF text in a standard font, so you can search and copy it.

    Paper sizes or exact size

Keep the SVG’s dimensions (1 CSS pixel = 0.75 pt) or fit it to a paper size, with a landscape page for wide drawings.

    Many SVGs, one PDF

Combine any number of SVGs into a multi-page PDF in the order you added them.

    Safe fallback

If an SVG uses something the vector engine can’t draw, that page is rendered as a 300 DPI image instead and the card tells you.

    Private

Runs in your browser, and linked images are never fetched from the internet.

Vector or image: which drawing method?

Vector mode suits logos, diagrams, charts, floor plans and anything that will be printed or zoomed. Choose image mode when the SVG relies on filters or unusual fonts, or contains text in scripts such as Devanagari, Arabic or Chinese, which the standard PDF fonts can’t display.

    Page sizes and scaling

SVG measures in CSS pixels, which are 1/96 inch, while PDF measures in points, which are 1/72 inch. With “Same size as the SVG”, a 1000 × 500 px SVG becomes a page of 750 × 375 pt, about 26.5 × 13.2 cm. Paper sizes keep the drawing’s proportions and scale it to fit inside the margin, centred on the page.

    Paper sizePointsMillimetres
    A4595.28 × 841.89210 × 297
    US Letter612 × 792215.9 × 279.4
    A3841.89 × 1190.55297 × 420
    US Legal612 × 1008215.9 × 355.6

A PDF page can be at most 200 inches (14,400 pt) on a side, so very large SVGs are scaled down to that limit.

    Getting the best vector PDF

    • Embed images: pictures inside the SVG must be embedded as data URIs; images linked from other websites are left out.
    • Fonts: text is set in the closest standard PDF font — sans-serif becomes Helvetica, serif becomes Times and monospace becomes Courier. For exact typography, convert text to outlines before exporting the SVG.
    • Order and merging: SVGs are placed in the order you add them. To join the result with other documents, use Merge PDF.
    • The other direction: to turn PDF pages back into SVG, use PDF to SVG. For photos and screenshots, see PNG to PDF.

    SVG to PDF Converter FAQ

Is the PDF really vector, or an image of my SVG?

In the default vector mode it is real vector graphics: shapes are PDF paths and text is real text, so you can zoom in indefinitely and select the words. An image is used only if you choose image mode or a page can’t be drawn as vectors — and the card says so.

How do I convert several SVG files into one PDF?

Drop them all at once, or add them one after another, with “One PDF with a page per SVG” selected. Each SVG becomes a page in the order you added them.

Can I put my SVG on an A4 page?

Yes. Choose A4 under “Page size” and pick a margin. The drawing is scaled to fit and centred, and wide drawings get a landscape page.

Why is the text in a different font?

Vector PDFs here use the standard PDF fonts Helvetica, Times and Courier, so other fonts are mapped to the closest one. Convert the text to outlines in your design tool, or use image mode, to keep the exact look.

Why is my blur or shadow missing?

SVG filter effects can’t be expressed as PDF vectors, so vector mode leaves them out. Switch the drawing method to “Image at 300 DPI” to keep them.

    Are my SVG files uploaded?

No. The PDF is generated in your browser, and linked images aren’t fetched, so your content never leaves your device.
