Marathi typing from English letters
This Marathi typing tool turns English letters into Marathi as you type: write tumhi kase aahat and get तुम्ही कसे आहात. It is the quickest way to do English to Marathi typing on a laptop or phone that has no Marathi keyboard installed, for a WhatsApp message, an application, a school project or a social post.
Marathi is written in Devanagari, like Hindi, so the tool uses the same tested Devanagari engine as the site's Hindi keyboard, with Marathi on top: its own table of everyday words (आहे, नाही, माझा, आणि, पाणी), z for झ as people write in chat, ळ from capital L, and the full stop instead of the Hindi danda.
It changes the script, not the language. English words are not translated; they are spelled out in Marathi letters, and anything between ## marks stays in English.
How to use the Marathi Typing
- Type Marathi words in English letters in the left box. The Marathi text appears on the right as you type.
- If a word comes out differently from what you meant, look at the strip under the box and click the right spelling; it replaces the word you are typing.
- Click a letter in the Marathi letters palette for anything that is hard to type, such as ॲ, ञ or a visible halant.
- Switch to Type in place if you prefer each word to turn into Marathi in the same box when you press space.
- Press Copy Marathi or Download .txt. The text is Unicode, so it pastes correctly into Word, Google Docs, email and every phone.

ळ, ण and झ
Type L for ळ (shaaLa शाळा), N for ण, and z or zh for झ (maza माझा, zala झाला).
Silent a handled
A final a becomes ा (mala मला), n or m before a consonant becomes ं (sundar सुंदर), and a consonant pair before -to, -te, -na is split the way it is said (karto करतो).

How the Marathi keyboard decides
Every group of letters maps to one Devanagari letter, following the widely used ITRANS-style phonetic scheme: k क, kh ख, ch च, chh छ, sh श, Sh ष. A consonant followed by a vowel takes its vowel sign, and two consonants in a row join into a conjunct (म्ह, स्त, क्ष). On top of that come a few labelled guesses about the silent a and the nasal sound, plus the Marathi word table.
Marathi chat spelling is not standardised: pani could be पानी or पाणी, kay could be कय or काय. The tool picks the more likely form for common words and shows the others in the suggestion strip, rather than hiding the choice.
Limits worth knowing
- Rules cannot read a sentence. Uncommon words, names and English loanwords may need a suggestion click or a letter from the palette.
- The Marathi word table is short on purpose; it covers everyday words, not a dictionary.
- Marathi uses the full stop, so
