A football lineup maker for your Sunday league team
Post the team sheet before kick-off, not after. This football lineup maker puts your starting eleven on a pitch graphic in a minute: choose the formation, type the shirt numbers and names, drag anyone who is not quite where you want them, and download a clean 1080 × 1350 PNG for WhatsApp, Instagram or the club notice board.
It handles full 11-a-side formations and the smaller sizes used by weekend and school teams: 7-a-side and 5-a-side. The shirts are plain silhouettes in the colour you pick, with no club crests, sponsor logos or trademarks, so the image is safe to share.
How to use the Football Lineup Maker
- Choose the format (11, 7 or 5-a-side) and a formation such as 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 2-3-1 or 1-2-1. The goalkeeper is added automatically and the lines are laid out from defence to attack.
- Type the team name, pick the shirt and number colours and a pitch style (grass, night, or a light version that prints with little ink).
- Fill in the Players list: a shirt number (up to two digits) and a name for each position. Names appear in small labels under the shirts and can be switched off.
- Drag a shirt on the pitch to fine-tune it, or click the pitch and use N / P to select a player and the arrow keys to nudge. “Reset positions” snaps everyone back to the formation.
- Add substitutes if you like, then press Download PNG, or copy the lineup as text for a message.
Football Lineup Maker features
Real formations, any size
Eight 11-a-side formations, five for 7-a-side and four for 5-a-side. Changing the formation keeps the names and numbers you typed and re-lays the shirts.
Drag, touch or keyboard
Pointer events work with a mouse, a finger or a stylus; the arrow keys give a keyboard route, and a live line reads out the selected player.
Print-friendly themes
Grass for screens, night for dark-mode feeds and a light pitch that costs little ink when printed.
Substitutes line
Up to 14 names are written under the pitch and wrap to a second line when long.
No logos, no sign-up
The image is drawn in your browser and never uploaded. Nothing in it belongs to any club or league.
How the formations are laid out
A formation string lists the players in each line from defence to attack, so 4-4-2 means four defenders, four midfielders and two forwards, plus the goalkeeper. Each line is spread evenly across the pitch; lines are spaced evenly between the back four and the front line. Wide formations such as 3-5-2 spread five midfielders edge to edge, and a single striker sits in the middle.
- 11-a-side: 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-4-3, 4-5-1, 5-3-2, 4-1-4-1.
- 7-a-side: 2-3-1, 3-2-1, 2-2-2, 1-3-2, 3-1-2.
- 5-a-side: 1-2-1, 2-2, 2-1-1, 1-1-2.
Limits
This is a graphics tool, not a tactics simulator: it does not check that your numbers are unique, that the squad size matches your league’s rules, or which positions players are registered for. The pitch markings are drawn to a simplified proportion and are not to scale for any pitch size. The image is not saved to a server; a copy of your lineup is kept in this browser so a refresh does not lose it.
Football Lineup Maker FAQ
How do I make a football lineup image?
Pick your formation, enter shirt numbers and names, drag players if needed and press Download PNG. The file is created on your device in a few seconds.
Can I make a 5-a-side or 7-a-side lineup?
Yes. Change the format to 7-a-side or 5-a-side and choose from the formations listed for that size.
Will my names and numbers disappear if I change the formation?
No. They are kept by position in the list, and only the shirt positions are re-laid. If the new formation has the same number of players, every name stays on the same row.
Can I use my club badge?
This tool deliberately draws plain shirts without crests or logos. You can add a badge afterwards in any image editor if you have the right to use it.
Why can’t I scroll on the phone when my finger is on the pitch?
A finger on the pitch moves shirts, so the pitch blocks page scrolling. Scroll with a finger on the controls or the margin around the image.
What size is the PNG?
1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5), the portrait shape used by most social apps.
