Auto and taxi fare calculator from the official meter tariff
This auto fare calculator and taxi fare calculator works out what the meter should show for a trip, using the fare the city’s transport authority has notified — not an app’s price. Choose the city and vehicle, type the distance, and add waiting time, luggage and the night charge where the tariff has them. You get the fare, how it is made up, and a table of fares from 1 to 30 km so you can spot an overcharge before you get in.
Each tariff is included only when its current official text could be read: Delhi’s auto-rickshaw and black-and-yellow taxi fares (Transport Department notification of 9 January 2023), Mumbai’s auto-rickshaw and black-and-yellow taxi fares (MMRTA tariff cards of 1 September 2026) and New York City’s yellow taxi rate (Taxi and Limousine Commission). For any other city, enter the figures from the fare chart in the custom tariff. It all runs in your browser.

Cities not modelled yet
Bengaluru (revised in 2025), Chennai (a revision was under public consultation in September 2026), Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Kerala and London are not built in because their current official notification could not be read on a transport department website. Use the custom tariff with the figures on the rate card displayed in the vehicle. Ride-hailing apps set their own prices, which change with demand, time and booking fees — those cannot be calculated from a meter tariff.
How the fare is worked out
For a distance-based tariff the meter charges the minimum fare for the first stretch and the per-km rate for the rest: a 10 km Delhi auto trip is ₹30 + 8.5 × ₹11 = ₹123.50, or ₹154 at night with 25% added. Mumbai’s card multiplies the per-km rate by the distance in 0.1 km steps and rounds to the rupee, with the minimum fare covering the first 1.5 km, so 3 km by auto is ₹18.22 × 3 = ₹54.66, shown as ₹55. To estimate fuel for your own car instead, try the fuel cost calculator, and to share a fare between friends the trip budget splitter.
