PDF poster maker: print a big poster on A4 or Letter paper
The PDF Poster Maker enlarges one page of a PDF — or a photo — and splits it across several sheets of normal paper, so you can print a big poster, banner, wall map, floor plan or classroom chart on any home or office printer and assemble it with glue or tape.
Tell it how big the poster should be — A0 to A3, a custom size, a grid such as 3 sheets across and 2 down, or a percentage — and it works out the tiles, adds an overlap so neighbouring sheets line up, prints cut marks and a label on each sheet, and adds an assembly guide page showing where every sheet goes.
Nothing is uploaded. Your file is tiled in the browser, and PDF pages stay vector, so text and line art remain crisp however large you go.
How to print a poster on multiple pages
- Drop a PDF, JPG, PNG or WebP file onto the upload area. For a multi-page PDF, choose the page to enlarge.
- Choose how to size the poster: a paper size it must fit inside, a number of sheets across × down, or a scale %.
- Pick the sheets you will print on, the orientation (Auto uses the fewest sheets), the unprinted margin and the overlap.
- Check the tiling grid on the preview, then press Create poster PDF and download it.
- Print every page at Actual size / 100%, trim, line up the overlaps using the labels and the guide page, and glue or tape.
PDF Poster Maker features
Three ways to size
Fit inside A0, A1, A2, A3, 18 × 24 in, 24 × 36 in or a custom size; fill a grid of sheets; or enlarge by an exact percentage.
Fewest sheets automatically
Auto orientation tries portrait and landscape sheets and keeps whichever needs fewer pages.
Overlap and cut marks
Neighbouring tiles repeat a strip of the picture for easy alignment, with dashed lines showing where it ends and corner marks for trimming.
Labels and an assembly guide
Every sheet is labelled A1, A2 … B1 with its neighbours, and an optional first page maps the whole poster.
Vector sharpness
PDF pages are placed as vector graphics, so text, logos and drawings stay sharp at any size.
Photos too
JPG, PNG and WebP images are accepted, upright according to their camera orientation.
How many sheets will my poster need?
With a 10 mm unprinted margin and a 10 mm overlap, each portrait A4 sheet adds 18 cm across and 26.7 cm down. With orientation on Auto, a portrait poster that fills these sizes needs:
| Poster size | A4 sheets | US Letter sheets |
|---|---|---|
| A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) | 4 (2 × 2, portrait) | 4 (2 × 2, portrait) |
| A2 (42 × 59.4 cm) | 8 (2 × 4, landscape) | 8 (2 × 4, landscape) |
| A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm) | 15 (3 × 5, landscape) | 15 (3 × 5, landscape) |
| A0 (84.1 × 118.9 cm) | 25 (5 × 5, portrait) | 25 (5 × 5, portrait) |
| 24 × 36 in (61 × 91.4 cm) | 16 (4 × 4, portrait) | 15 (3 × 5, landscape) |
Assembling the poster
- Print at Actual size / 100%. “Fit to page” shrinks each tile and the edges will no longer match.
- Lay the sheets out in order using the labels: row A at the top, column 1 on the left.
- On each sheet that has a neighbour on its left or above, trim the white margin off that edge along the cut marks.
- Slide the trimmed edge over the neighbouring sheet until the picture lines up across the overlap strip (up to the dashed line), then glue or tape from the back.
- Build complete rows first, then join the rows together.
Getting the best print quality
Vector PDFs — posters made in Canva, PowerPoint, Illustrator or Word — enlarge without any loss, so go as big as you like. Photos are different: a picture needs roughly 100–150 pixels per inch at its printed size to look sharp from a normal viewing distance. A 4000 × 3000 pixel phone photo is good for about A2; beyond that it will look soft up close, though large posters are usually seen from further away.
To print an image as a regular single page instead, use JPG to PDF. To cut a picture into equal pieces for social media, try Image Splitter, and to put several small pages on one sheet rather than one page on many, use PDF N-up.
PDF Poster Maker FAQ
How do I print a large PDF on multiple A4 pages?
Add the PDF here, choose a poster size (for example A1) or a grid of sheets, and press “Create poster PDF”. Print the result at 100% scale and tape the sheets together using the labels and overlap strips.
What overlap should I use?
10 mm is a comfortable default for glue or tape. Use 0 if you prefer to trim every edge exactly and butt the sheets together.
Why do I need a margin?
Most home and office printers can’t print the outer 3–5 mm of the paper. The margin keeps the picture inside the printable area and leaves room for cut marks and labels.
Can I make a poster from a photo?
Yes. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP image. For a sharp result, choose a poster size that leaves about 100–150 pixels per inch of print.
Will text stay sharp when enlarged?
For PDFs with real text and vector graphics, yes — they are scaled as vectors. Scanned PDFs and photos are images and will look softer the more you enlarge them.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The poster is built in your browser and your file never leaves your device.
