A ukulele chords chart for every key and tuning

This ukulele chords chart starts with the 16 ukulele chords for beginners that most songs use, then opens up to a printable chart of major, minor and seventh chords in all 12 keys, or every shape for one chord. Each diagram can be strummed, so you can check you are holding it right.

It covers the tunings people actually play: standard re-entrant G C E A on soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles, low G, the baritone’s D G B E and the older D tuning (A D F♯ B). Shapes are generated from each chord’s notes in your browser, mirror for left-handers, and save as a PDF or PNG.

How to use the Ukulele Chord Chart

  1. Choose a Tuning — leave it on standard G C E A unless you know your ukulele is tuned differently.
  2. Pick a view: Beginner chords, All keys chart (tick the chord types you want) or One chord.
  3. For one chord, type it into Find a chord or choose a Root and Chord type; up to six shapes appear.
  4. Tap a diagram to hear it; tick Left-handed to mirror the diagrams.
  5. Pick A4 or US Letter and press Download PDF, PNG or Print.

Ukulele chords and tuning

Soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles are normally tuned G4 C4 E4 A4. The G string is higher than the C next to it — a re-entrant tuning — which is why ukulele chords sound bright and why the lowest note is often not the root. Low-G players tune that string an octave down (G3); chord shapes stay the same, though a few chords gain an alternative. The baritone ukulele is tuned D3 G3 B3 E4, like the top four strings of a guitar, so its shapes have different names: the standard C shape (0003) is a G chord on a baritone. D tuning raises every string a whole step, so the C shape becomes D. Tunings follow the standard descriptions in the ukulele article on Wikipedia (checked October 2026).

How to read a ukulele chord diagram

The diagram is the neck standing upright with the nut at the top. The four vertical lines are the strings: G, C, E and A from left to right on a standard ukulele. Horizontal lines are frets; a dot means press the string just behind that fret, and the number suggests a finger (1 index, 2 middle, 3 ring, 4 little). ○ above a string means play it open, × means don’t play it, and a bar across strings is a barre with one finger. The code under each diagram reads from the G string: 0003 is C, 2010 is F.

Learning order for beginners

  • C, Am, F and G — enough for hundreds of four-chord songs (practise C → Am → F → G slowly).
  • G7, C7, A7 and E7 — one- and two-finger shapes that add a bluesy pull back to the home chord.
  • D, Dm, Em and A — open up the keys of D and G.
  • B♭ and Bm — your first barre shapes. Can’t manage them yet? Move the song to an easier key with the chord transposer, and see which chords belong together on the circle of fifths.

Ukulele Chord Chart FAQ

What are the easiest ukulele chords for beginners?

C (0003), Am (2000), F (2010) and G (0232). With those four you can play a huge number of songs; add G7, C7 and A7 next.

How do I get a ukulele chords PDF?

Choose Beginner chords or All keys chart, pick A4 or US Letter and press Download PDF. The diagrams are vector drawings, so they stay sharp when printed.

Are ukulele chords the same in low G tuning?

Yes. Low G changes only the pitch of the 4th string, not its note name, so every shape works. Some chords sound fuller, and this chart sometimes offers a different first choice.

Can I use this chart for a baritone ukulele?

Yes — choose Baritone D G B E. The shapes then match the top four strings of a guitar, and the chart names them correctly for that tuning.

How do I tune a ukulele to G C E A?

From the string nearest your chin: G, C, E, A, with the G tuned higher than the C. Check the strings line under the chord name, or use a tuner.

Is there a guitar version?

Yes. The guitar chord chart uses the same chord engine for six-string guitar in seven tunings.
