Turn JSON into a readable, printable PDF

The JSON to PDF converter creates a clean PDF from any JSON — an API response for a bug report, a configuration file for an audit, or a data export for someone who does not read code. Choose a pretty-printed view with syntax colours and line numbers, or let it lay arrays of records out as real tables, with headings for nested objects.

Long lines wrap neatly instead of running off the page, every page carries its number, and the PDF contains real text that can be searched and copied. Characters beyond basic Latin — ₹, Greek, Cyrillic, accented names — are drawn with an embedded Noto font, so they print correctly.

The PDF is built in your browser with the open-source jsPDF library (MIT licence) and its AutoTable plug-in; your JSON never leaves your device.

How to use the JSON to PDF Converter

  1. Paste JSON into JSON input or press Open file. Mistakes are shown with the line and column so you can fix them first.
  2. Choose Pretty JSON (coloured) to print the document as code, or Tables to print records and values as tables.
  3. Set the page size, orientation, font size and indent.
  4. Enter a title and file name, and choose whether to show line numbers, page numbers and colours.
  5. Check the preview below, then press Create PDF to download it.

JSON to PDF Converter features

Two layouts

Pretty JSON reproduces the document exactly, with keys, strings, numbers and true/false/null in different colours. Tables turn arrays of objects into ruled tables whose header row repeats on every page.

Wrapping that keeps structure

A line too long for the page continues on the next line, indented under its parent. Only the first part carries a line number, so the numbers always match the lines in your file.

Nested data made readable

In table layout, an object’s simple values form a key/value table, nested objects become indented sections headed like “totals › refunds”, and fields nested inside records become columns such as address.pin.

Unicode that stays text

When your data needs it, Noto Sans or Noto Sans Mono (SIL Open Font License) is embedded, keeping ₹, € and non-English names selectable. Chinese, Japanese, Hindi and emoji are outside these fonts and are flagged before you download.

Print-ready settings

A4, US Letter, US Legal or A3; portrait or landscape; 7–12 pt text; a title on page 1 repeated as a small running header; “Page X of Y” footers; and a black-and-white option.

Values exactly as written

In the pretty view numbers are printed from your file’s own text, so 1.50 stays 1.50 and long IDs keep every digit.

Which layout should I use?

A record table that is too wide for the page is split column-wise across pages. Switching to landscape, A3 or a smaller font usually keeps every column on one page.

Tips for a better PDF

  • Validate first. The input is checked as you type. To fix common problems such as trailing commas or single quotes, tidy the file in the JSON Formatter.
  • Big files. Tens of thousands of lines produce hundreds of pages. Use 7–8 pt text, or the Tables layout for arrays of records, which is far shorter.
  • Monochrome printers. Untick Colours: the layout is unchanged, and grey line numbers keep the code easy to follow.
  • Combining documents. Join the PDF with others using Merge PDF. For plain text or log files, Text to PDF is a better fit; for XML, use XML to PDF.

JSON to PDF Converter FAQ

How do I convert JSON to PDF?

Paste the JSON or open a .json file, pick Pretty JSON or Tables, set the page options and press Create PDF. The JSON to PDF conversion takes a second or two and the file downloads automatically.

Can I select and copy text from the PDF?

Yes. The PDF contains real text, not images, so you can search it, select it and copy values out of it in any PDF reader.

What happens to very long lines?

They are wrapped inside the margins and indented under the start of the line. Long strings such as tokens or base64 data are broken across lines without losing a character.

How are nested objects shown in the table layout?

Each nested object or array gets its own heading showing its path, indented by depth. Arrays of objects become tables; inside a table, nested fields become dotted column names and small lists are joined with commas.

Does it support ₹, accented letters and other languages?

Latin, Greek and Cyrillic text and currency symbols such as ₹, € and £ print correctly using an embedded Noto font. Scripts like Chinese, Japanese, Devanagari and emoji are not in that font, and the tool warns you when they appear.

Is my JSON uploaded?

No. The PDF is created by JavaScript in your browser. Only the PDF library and, when needed, the font are downloaded from a public CDN.
