Daily wages calculator: attendance, half days and overtime
This daily wage calculator works out what a daily-rated worker is owed for a week, a fortnight or a month: the daily rate × full days worked, half a day’s pay for each half day, any paid rest days or holidays, and overtime at a multiple of the hourly rate — twice the normal rate by default, as Indian labour law requires. Take off an advance and the net wages appear, with a total for a whole gang of workers on the same terms.
It suits contractors, site supervisors, farm owners, households paying domestic help and small shops — anyone who pays by the day. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is stored.

Daily wages calculation formula
Wages = daily rate × (full days + half days ÷ 2 + paid rest days) + overtime hours × (daily rate ÷ normal hours) × overtime multiplier − deductions
Worked example: a mason on ₹600 a day works 24 full days and 2 half days in a month and 6 hours of overtime. Full days pay 24 × ₹600 = ₹14,400 and the half days ₹600. The hourly rate is ₹600 ÷ 8 = ₹75, so overtime at twice the rate is 6 × ₹150 = ₹900. Wages for the month: ₹15,900. With a ₹1,000 advance already paid, ₹14,600 is due; for a gang of five on the same terms, ₹73,000.
Overtime and working hours in India
Under the Code on Wages, 2019 (section 14), when an employee works more than the hours of a normal working day, the employer must pay overtime at a rate not less than twice the normal rate of wages (summary: PRS Legislative Research, read 24 October 2026). The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 fixes an 8-hour day and a 48-hour week, and overtime needs the worker’s consent. The four Labour Codes apply from 21 November 2025; states notify their own rules, so check the details that apply to you.
Whether weekly rest days and festival holidays are paid depends on the law, the minimum-wage notification and the contract — enter them only if they are paid. For overtime worked out day by day or week by week from a timesheet, use the overtime calculator.
Daily rate, monthly salary and minimum wages
Monthly minimum wages in India are commonly converted to a daily rate by dividing by 26, and back by multiplying by 26 — the convention shown above. If you pay a monthly salary and need the value of one day for loss-of-pay deductions, the per day salary calculator gives it for 26, 30, calendar and working days. To check the daily rate against the notified minimum for your state, category and zone, use the minimum wage calculator; for a month’s muster roll for several workers, the staff salary register.
Daily Wage Calculator FAQ
How do I calculate daily wages?
Multiply the daily rate by the days worked, add half the rate for each half day and the rate for each paid holiday, then add overtime: hours × (daily rate ÷ normal hours) × the overtime multiplier.
What is the daily wages calculation formula for a month?
Daily rate × paid days in the month. At ₹600 a day, 26 days come to ₹15,600 and 30 days to ₹18,000. Add overtime and take off advances.
How is overtime calculated for a daily wage worker in India?
The hourly rate is the daily wage ÷ 8 (the normal working day), and overtime is paid at not less than twice that rate. At ₹600 a day: ₹75 an hour, ₹150 per overtime hour.
How much is a half day’s wage?
Half the daily rate — ₹300 on a ₹600 day — unless your agreement or state rules say otherwise.
Are Sundays paid for daily wage workers?
It depends on the applicable rules and the contract; many daily-rated workers are paid only for days worked. Enter paid rest days only if they are paid.
Can I calculate wages for several labourers at once?
Yes, if they share the same rate and attendance: set the number of workers. For different attendance per worker, use the staff salary register.
