An attendance sheet maker for a printable monthly register
This attendance sheet maker builds a printable monthly register for a class in a few seconds. Paste your class list, choose the month and year, tell it which days are the weekly off and which are holidays, and it draws a table with one column per day, shaded weekends, a numbered row for each student and Present, Absent and % columns to fill in at month end.
If you prefer a spreadsheet, the same register downloads as an Excel file with formulas: type P or A in each cell and the Present, Absent and percentage columns update by themselves. Everything is made in your browser; your class list never leaves your device.
How to use the Attendance Register Maker
- Enter the school, class and teacher, then choose the month and year.
- Pick the weekly off (Sunday, Saturday and Sunday, or Friday and Saturday) and type any holidays, such as
14, 26-27. - Paste your class list, one name per line, and add blank rows for new admissions.

- Press Print register or download a PDF, or choose Download Excel with formulas.
Attendance Register Maker features
Real calendar
Weekdays come from the actual calendar, including leap-year February, so 1 November 2026 is correctly a Sunday.
Weekly offs and holidays
Shaded columns that are not counted as working days; holidays are marked H.
Totals and percentage
Present, Absent and % columns, plus Total present and Total absent rows for each day.
Excel with formulas
COUNTIF formulas for Present and Absent and a percentage of working days, with day totals at the bottom.
Long lists
Up to 150 names over several pages, with the header repeated on each page.
How the attendance percentage works
The register counts working days as the days of the month minus the weekly offs and the holidays you list. The percentage in the Excel file is present days divided by working days, times 100, rounded to one decimal. For example, a student who is marked present on 20 of 22 working days has 90.9%.
| Month | Weekly off | Days in month | Working days (no holidays) |
|---|---|---|---|
| November 2026 | Sunday | 30 | 25 |
| November 2026 | Saturday and Sunday | 30 | 21 |
| February 2028 | Sunday | 29 | 25 |
| February 2027 | Saturday and Sunday | 28 | 20 |
Choosing paper, rows and columns
Landscape A4 gives each day column about 6 mm, which is enough to write P or A clearly in pen. If your class has more than about 25 students, pick the compact row height, or let the list run onto a second page: the header row repeats on every page and the Total present and Total absent rows go at the very end. Add a few blank rows if students often join mid-term, so that you do not have to rewrite the register. For a half-day or shift system, keep two registers or use the Excel file and add a second sheet.
Tips for keeping the register
Students who want to check their own attendance against a 75% rule can use the attendance calculator, and a whole-class report card can be made with the report card maker.
- Mark attendance at the same time each day, and keep a code for leave (L) and half days if your school uses them; only P and A are counted by the Excel formulas.
- Print on A4 landscape for a month of 31 days; portrait works but the day columns become narrow.
- Keep the Excel file as a monthly record, or print the PDF and file it. Check your school or board’s rules for required register formats before using it as the official record.
Attendance Register Maker FAQ
How do I make an attendance sheet?
Paste the class list, choose the month and year, set the weekly off and holidays, and print. The sheet has one column per day and rows for each student.
Can I get an attendance sheet in Excel with formulas?
Yes. Download Excel makes a workbook where you type P or A for each day, and the Present, Absent and % columns are calculated with COUNTIF formulas, with day totals at the bottom.
Does it skip Sundays and holidays?
Weekly offs and holidays are shaded and left out of the working days. Choose the weekly off and list holiday dates for the month.
Which paper should I use?
A4 landscape fits a 31-day month with a comfortable name column. Letter and A5 are also available.
Is the class list stored anywhere?
Only in your browser so you can come back to it. Nothing is uploaded, and clearing browser data removes it.
How is this different from the attendance calculator?
The attendance calculator helps a student work out how many classes to attend for 75%. This tool is for teachers who need a register to mark and total attendance for a whole class.
