Webpage to PDF in reader mode — just the article
The Webpage to PDF tool saves the article on a web page as a clean, easy-to-read PDF. Paste a link to a news story, blog post, recipe, tutorial or Wikipedia article: the headline, text, lists, quotes, tables and pictures stay, while menus, cookie banners, adverts, share buttons, “related stories” and footers are left out.
The result is typeset like a document — real, selectable text in Noto Sans, page numbers, the source address and date at the top, and, if you like, every link’s address as a footnote, so a printout still says where each link went.
Before you download, you see every block of the page with a tick box. A fast built-in detector picks the article; if a page fools it, press Clean with AI (TypeSafe) for a second opinion, then tick or untick anything yourself. Want the page’s full design instead? Use URL to PDF.
How to save a webpage as a clean PDF
- Paste the article’s address and press Load article — or choose Saved .html file and drop a page you saved with Ctrl+S.
- Look through Article blocks. Ticked blocks go into the PDF; navigation, banners, sidebars and footers are already unticked.
- Optionally press Clean with AI (TypeSafe), then switch the list to Dropped to rescue anything you want back.
- Choose the page size (A4, US Letter or A5), the text size, and whether to include pictures and link footnotes.
- Press Download PDF.
Webpage to PDF features
Reader-mode extraction
The page is split into headings, paragraphs, list items, quotes, code, tables, pictures and captions, and a text-density detector finds the article among them.
Optional AI cleaning
TypeSafe’s Jev model scores each block from “site furniture” to “main article content”. Blocks scoring 50% or more are kept, and a picture stays when the text on both sides of it does.
You have the last word
Every block has a tick box, with a filter for kept or dropped blocks, so a missed paragraph or a stray promo is one click away.
Properly typeset
Headings, bullets and numbering, indented quotes, shaded code and ruled tables whose header row repeats on each page — as searchable text.
Links kept
Link text stays clickable, and with footnotes on, the foot of each page lists the full addresses of the links on it.
Works with saved pages
Drop an .html file saved earlier. It is read on your device; its pictures load from the page’s original address when the file names it.
Built-in detection or AI?
The built-in detector works like a browser’s reader view. It scores the boxes on the page by how much running text they hold — long paragraphs and commas count for, a high share of link text counts against — picks the best, and drops anything inside navigation, sidebars, footers and forms, or in boxes named like “share”, “related”, “newsletter” or “promo”. It is instant and sends nothing anywhere.
Unusual layouts can fool it, as can sign-up pitches placed inside the article. The AI pass reads the blocks themselves. In Galaxy of Tools’ evaluation on a news page and a recipe page with 56 blocks between them, it kept all 29 article blocks and dropped all 27 furniture blocks: menus, a cookie notice, adverts, a subscribe prompt, a share bar, related links, comments and footers. Its score appears next to each block.
What is sent, and where
- The address goes to Galaxy of Tools’ page fetcher, which downloads the public page without cookies or logins and refuses private network addresses. Pictures you include are fetched the same way. Fetched pages may be cached for up to ten minutes.
- With the AI button, the text of the blocks (up to 400 blocks, each cut to 400 characters), their kind and link share, the page title and address go through Galaxy of Tools’ server to TypeSafe’s Jev model. Pictures, your choices and the PDF are never sent, and nothing is stored.
- A saved .html file is read in your browser; only its pictures are fetched, from their original addresses.
- The PDF is built in your browser with jsPDF (MIT licence) and the Noto Sans font (SIL Open Font License).
Limits worth knowing
- Articles drawn by JavaScript, behind a login or paywall, or hidden by a cookie wall can’t be read, because scripts don’t run and nothing is logged in. Open the article in your browser, let it load, save it with Ctrl+S and drop the saved file here.
- Noto Sans covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic. Hindi, Chinese, Arabic and other scripts would print as blanks; the tool warns you, and URL to PDF keeps such pages as they look.
- Videos, maps, script-drawn embeds and interactive charts are left out; their captions and alt text stay.
- On very long pages the AI judges the 400 blocks around the article the built-in detection found; the rest keep the built-in decision. For the key points of a long saved PDF, try PDF Summarizer.
Webpage to PDF FAQ
How do I save a webpage as a PDF without ads?
Paste the address into Webpage to PDF and press Download PDF. The article — headline, text, pictures and tables — is kept, and menus, adverts, cookie banners and footers are left out. Untick anything else before downloading.
What exactly does “Clean with AI” send?
Only the text of the page’s blocks (each cut to 400 characters), what kind of block each is and how much of it is link text, plus the page title and address. TypeSafe’s Jev model returns a score per block; nothing is stored.
Is the text in the PDF selectable?
Yes. The PDF is typeset as real text, so you can search, select and copy it, and screen readers can read it.
Why is a paragraph missing?
The detector judged it to be page furniture — usually because it is mostly links, a short label, or sits in a box named like a sidebar or promo. Switch the list to Dropped, tick it and download again.
Can I convert an article that needs a login or subscription?
Not from its address: the fetcher has no cookies or account. Open the article in your browser while logged in, save it with Ctrl+S, choose “Saved .html file” and drop it here.
How is this different from URL to PDF and HTML to PDF?
URL to PDF keeps the page’s design, like a screenshot cut into pages. HTML to PDF converts HTML code you paste or a file you open, with its own layout. Webpage to PDF is reader mode: just the article, typeset as a clean document.
