Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Convert time between time zones — daylight saving included

The Time Zone Converter takes a date and time in one place and shows what it is everywhere else on your list — for example 9:00 AM in New York becomes 2:00 PM in London and 6:30 PM in Mumbai. It understands daylight saving time, half-hour and quarter-hour zones such as India (UTC+5:30) and Nepal (UTC+5:45), and dates that cross midnight.

Search by city, country or the abbreviations people actually use — IST, EST, PST, GMT, CET, JST, AEST — or by an offset like UTC+8. A 24-hour meeting planner shows working hours in every zone at once, so you can spot a slot that suits everyone. It runs entirely in your browser using its built-in time-zone database.

How to use the Time Zone Converter

    1. Set the Date and Time you want to convert, or press Now.
    2. In From time zone, type a city, country or abbreviation and pick the right match. It starts as your own time zone.
    3. Read the converted times in the list. A “+1 day” or “−1 day” badge marks a different date, and each row shows the offset and the difference from the source.
    4. Add more places with Add a time zone, or remove one with ×.
    5. In the Meeting planner, find a column that is green for everyone and tap its hour to convert it. Press Copy result to paste the times into an invitation.

    Time Zone Converter features

    Daylight saving aware

Each conversion uses the rules in force on the chosen date, so EST/EDT, GMT/BST, CET/CEST and AEST/AEDT are always right.

    Half-hour and 45-minute zones

India, Sri Lanka, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Nepal and central Australia convert exactly.

    Search by abbreviation

IST, EST, PST, GMT, CET, JST, AEST and many more, plus city names, countries and UTC offsets.

    Meeting planner

24 hours side by side with working hours shaded green and late or early hours amber.

    Warnings for tricky times

Tells you when a time is skipped or happens twice because clocks change that night.

    How the conversion works

Every time zone is an offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). To convert, the tool first finds the exact UTC moment that matches your date and time in the “from” zone, then shows that moment in each other zone. The offsets come from the IANA time-zone database built into your browser, which records each region’s daylight-saving rules and their history.

Example: 1 July 2024 at 09:00 in New York. New York is on EDT (UTC−4) in July, so that is 13:00 UTC — 14:00 in London (BST, UTC+1), 18:30 in Mumbai (IST, UTC+5:30), 18:45 in Kathmandu (UTC+5:45), 22:00 in Tokyo and 23:00 in Sydney (AEST, UTC+10, because it is winter there).

Daylight saving time and the “missing” hour

When clocks spring forward, one hour of local time never happens: on 10 March 2024, New York jumped from 01:59 straight to 03:00, so 02:30 did not exist. If you enter such a time, the converter warns you and uses the moment just after the jump. When clocks fall back, an hour happens twice — 01:30 on 3 November 2024 occurred once in EDT and again in EST. The converter shows the first occurrence and tells you the second is an hour later.

Countries change their clocks on different dates, so the gap between two cities is not fixed. New York and London are usually 5 hours apart but only 4 for a few weeks in March and in late October. Many places — India, China, Japan, the UAE and most of Africa — do not use daylight saving at all.

    Common time-zone abbreviations

    • Abbreviations can be ambiguous: IST also means Israel or Irish Standard Time, and CST is used in both the US and China. When in doubt, write the city or the UTC offset.
    • To see what time it is right now in several places, use the World Clock. To convert a Unix timestamp to a date, use the Unix Timestamp Converter.

    Time Zone Converter FAQ

How do I convert IST to EST?

Search “IST” in From time zone (India appears first), enter the time, then add New York. India is 9 h 30 min ahead of New York in summer (EDT) and 10 h 30 min ahead in winter (EST). The time zone converter applies the right one for your date.

Does the converter handle daylight saving time?

Yes. It uses the daylight-saving rules for the exact date you choose, including dates in the past and the future, and warns you about times that are skipped or repeated when the clocks change.

What is the difference between GMT and UTC?

For everyday purposes they are the same time. UTC is the precise atomic-clock standard; GMT is the name of the time zone used in the UK in winter. In summer the UK switches to BST (UTC+1).

Why does India use a half-hour offset?

India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) was chosen to suit the middle of the country, at about 82.5° east. Nepal goes a step further with UTC+5:45. The converter handles both exactly.

How do I find a good meeting time across time zones?

Add everyone’s cities and look at the meeting planner. Columns that are green in every row fall within 9:00–17:00 for all participants. Tap the hour to see the exact converted times.

    Is my information saved?

Your chosen time zones and the 12/24-hour setting are kept in your browser’s local storage so the page opens the same way next time. Nothing is uploaded.
