Turn screenshots into a PDF by pasting them
The Screenshot to PDF tool is built around the clipboard. Take a screenshot, come back to this page and press Ctrl+V — it becomes page 1. Take another and paste again — page 2. When you are done, one click gives you a single PDF, with no need to save, name and hunt for image files in between.
It is made for the moments when you need proof or a record: an order or payment confirmation, a UPI or bank transfer receipt, a chat conversation, an error message for IT support, a booking, a web page before it changes, or steps for a how-to guide. Plain borders around each capture can be trimmed automatically, pages can follow the width of your screenshots, and very long scrolling captures are continued across A4 or Letter pages.
Screenshots often contain private details, so nothing is uploaded: the images are read from your clipboard and turned into a PDF entirely inside your browser.
How to convert screenshots to PDF
- Capture the screen: Win+Shift+S (Snipping Tool) or PrtScn on Windows, ⌘+Ctrl+Shift+4 (area) or ⌘+Ctrl+Shift+3 (whole screen) on a Mac. These copy the image to the clipboard.
- Return to this page and press Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac), or press the “Paste screenshot” button. Repeat for every screenshot; they are added in order.
- On a phone, or for screenshots already saved as files, tap the box to choose them from your gallery.
- Check the thumbnails. Reorder with the arrows or by dragging, remove extras, and keep “Auto-crop plain borders” on to trim empty edges.
- Choose a page layout and press “Convert to PDF” to download screenshots.pdf.
Screenshot to PDF features
Paste-first workflow
Ctrl+V anywhere on the page adds the clipboard image; the “Paste screenshot” button uses the browser’s Clipboard API where it is allowed.
Auto-crop plain borders
Uniform single-colour edges — white margins, black bars, empty desktop — are detected and trimmed, and each thumbnail shows the size before and after.
Fit-to-width pages
By default each page is as wide as A4 and exactly as tall as the screenshot, so there is no wasted white space.
Long screenshots across pages
On A4 or Letter, captures more than twice the page height continue onto the next page, breaking at blank rows where possible so lines of text aren’t cut in half.
Sharp text
Screenshots are stored as lossless PNG by default; switch to JPEG if you need a smaller file.
Nothing uploaded
Clipboard images are processed locally in your browser and never sent anywhere.
Page layout options
| Option | What happens | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Fit to width | A4-wide page; its height follows each screenshot | Reading on screen, sharing in chat or email |
| A4 pages | Standard A4; long captures continue on the next page | Printing, forms, official records |
| US Letter pages | Same, on 8.5 × 11 in paper | Printing in the US and Canada |
| Actual size | Page matches the screenshot at 96 pixels per inch | Pixel-accurate design or bug reports |
When pasting doesn’t work
- Make sure the screenshot was copied, not just saved. On a Mac, ⌘+Shift+3 and ⌘+Shift+4 (without Ctrl) save a file to the desktop instead — add such files with the upload box.
- Click on an empty part of the page before pressing Ctrl+V; pasting while a text box has focus pastes into the box instead.
- The “Paste screenshot” button needs your permission to read the clipboard. Some browsers ask once, and some don’t offer it at all — Ctrl+V always works.
- Phones don’t share screenshots through the clipboard in the same way. Choose them from your gallery instead.
Tips for clean, readable PDFs
Capture just the window or area you need — Win+Shift+S and ⌘+Ctrl+Shift+4 let you drag a rectangle. For anything more precise than auto-crop, trim the image first with Crop Image. If the PDF is too large to attach, choose JPEG storage or run it through Compress PDF. To add screenshots to an existing document, convert them here and join the files with Merge PDF.
Screenshot to PDF FAQ
How do I convert a screenshot to PDF?
Take the screenshot so it is copied to the clipboard, open this page and press Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac). Repeat for more screenshots, then press “Convert to PDF”.
Can I put multiple screenshots in one PDF?
Yes. Every paste adds a new page at the end. Reorder or remove pages before converting, and all of them end up in one PDF.
What does auto-crop remove?
Only edges that are a single plain colour, such as white margins or black bars. Anything with content, gradients or patterns is left alone, and you can switch the option off.
How are very long scrolling screenshots handled?
With “Fit to width” they become one tall page. With A4 or Letter, a capture more than twice the page height is continued across pages, breaking at blank rows where it can.
Is it safe for screenshots with personal information?
Yes. Nothing is uploaded: the clipboard image is read and converted inside your browser, and closing the tab clears it.
Why does the Paste button say clipboard access was blocked?
Browsers only let a page read the clipboard with your permission. Allow it when asked, or simply press Ctrl+V — keyboard pasting needs no permission.
