A Pinterest pin resizer for every Pin, profile and board shape

Pinterest recommends a 2:3 shape — 1000 × 1500 pixels — for standard Pins, and warns that Pins taller than 2:3 may be cut off in people’s feeds. A landscape photo or a phone screenshot rarely fits that shape. This Pinterest pin resizer turns any image into the exact pixel size you need: crop it to fill and drag to choose what stays, fit the whole picture on a colour, or use Blur fill to place it on a blurred, enlarged copy of itself so nothing is cropped and there are no flat bars.

Presets cover standard, square, long and full-screen 9:16 Pins, profile pictures with a circle preview, the 16:9 profile cover and square board covers. Resize a whole batch and download it as one ZIP. Your images are processed in the browser and never uploaded.

How to use the Pinterest Pin Resizer

  1. Drop one or more photos onto the upload area (or paste one with Ctrl+V).
  2. Choose a Pinterest size. Standard Pin 2:3 · 1000 × 1500 is selected first.
  3. Pick how to handle a different shape: Crop to fill (drag the preview to frame, zoom to tighten), Fit inside on a background colour, or Blur fill.
  4. Turn on Show Pinterest guides to see the full-screen safe zone, the part of a long Pin that may be cut off, or the profile circle — guides are never saved into the file.
  5. Press Download JPG, or Download all as ZIP for a batch, and upload the files when you create your Pins.

Worked example: a landscape photo into a 1000 × 1500 Pin

Take a 4000 × 3000 landscape photo. Crop to fill scales it by the larger factor, max(1000 ÷ 4000, 1500 ÷ 3000) = 0.5, giving 2000 × 1500 — then keeps a 1000-pixel-wide slice, half the photo. Drag the preview to choose which half.

Fit inside uses the smaller factor, min(0.25, 0.5) = 0.25, so the whole photo becomes 1000 × 750 and sits in the middle with 375-pixel bands above and below. Blur fill keeps the same 1000 × 750 picture but fills those bands with a blurred, slightly darkened, enlarged copy of the photo, which looks far more natural in a feed than white bars.

Tips for Pins that get saved

  • Stick to 2:3. It is the shape Pinterest recommends and shows uncut; long Pins risk losing their bottom part in feeds.
  • Mind the safe zone on full-screen Pins. Pinterest’s buttons and text cover the top 270 px and bottom 790 px of a 1080 × 1920 Pin.
  • Add text in a design tool, not here. For titles, overlays and templates use the Pinterest Cover Maker; this tool only resizes.
  • Need smaller files for a blog? Run the results through the Image Compressor. For every other network, see Social Media Image Sizes.

Pinterest Pin Resizer FAQ

What is the best Pinterest Pin size?

1000 × 1500 pixels, a 2:3 aspect ratio — Pinterest’s own recommendation. Square 1000 × 1000 Pins also work. This Pinterest pin resizer makes both, plus long and full-screen 9:16 Pins.

Why is my long Pin cut off?

Pinterest says Pins taller than 2:3 may get cut off in people’s feeds. A 1000 × 2100 Pin can lose its bottom 600 px there, so keep your title and key image in the top 1500 px — the long-Pin guide shades that area.

How do I resize for Pinterest without cropping?

Choose Fit inside to place the whole image on a background colour, or Blur fill to put it on a blurred copy of itself. Both keep every pixel of the original picture.

What size is a Pinterest board cover?

Pinterest does not take a separate upload: you pick an existing Pin on the board as its cover, and Pinterest crops it. Make a square 1000 × 1000 version with the subject in the centre and save it to the board first.

What size is a Pinterest profile picture?

Pinterest does not publish one. It shows the photo as a circle, so upload a square — 400 × 400 keeps it sharp, and 165 × 165 is the display size most guides quote.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything is resized on your device in the browser, including batches and ZIP files.
