HEIC to JPG Converter

Convert iPhone HEIC and HEIF photos to JPG or PNG in your browser — in batches, with no upload.

Drop HEIC / HEIF photos here or click to choose iPhone and iPad photos (.heic, .heif) · select many at once · converted on your device
85–92 keeps photos sharp at about half the size.
Optional — e.g. 2000 for email and upload forms.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Convert HEIC to JPG on any device

iPhones and iPads save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) to use about half the storage of JPG. The catch: many Windows PCs, older Android phones, websites, online forms and printing kiosks can’t open them. This free HEIC to JPG converter turns HEIC and HEIF photos into ordinary JPG or PNG files that open everywhere.

Conversion happens entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly build of the open-source libheif decoder, so your personal photos are never uploaded. Drop in one picture or a whole album, set the quality, and download the results one by one or together as a ZIP file.

How to use the HEIC to JPG Converter

    1. Drag your .heic or .heif photos onto the drop area, or click it to choose them from your computer, phone or a USB drive.
    2. Pick the output: JPG for sharing and uploading, or PNG if you need a lossless copy for editing.
    3. Adjust the JPG quality (90% is a great default) and, if you want smaller files, enter a maximum width.
    4. Watch the progress bar — photos are converted one after another, and each shows its new size.
    5. Download each photo with its button, or press “Download all” to get every converted photo in a single ZIP.

    HEIC to JPG Converter features

    Batch conversion

Convert dozens of iPhone photos in one go; they are processed in sequence so even phones don’t run out of memory.

    JPG or PNG output

Choose a compact JPG with adjustable quality, or a lossless PNG for further editing.

    Optional resizing

Shrink 12- or 48-megapixel photos to a set width while converting, perfect for email and upload limits.

    Clear error messages

Files that are not really HEIC — including JPGs that were simply renamed — are detected and explained instead of failing silently.

    Fast on Apple devices

Safari on iPhone and Mac can decode HEIC natively, so conversion there is almost instant.

    No upload, no limits

Everything runs locally: no account, no watermark and no cap on the number of photos.

HEIC vs JPG: what is the difference?

HEIC stores images compressed with HEVC (H.265), the same technology used for 4K video. At the same visual quality a HEIC photo is typically 40–50% smaller than a JPG, and it can hold extras such as depth maps, Live Photo frames and 10-bit colour. JPG is older and less efficient, but it is universally supported by every browser, operating system, printer and website.

Converting HEIC to JPG at 85–92% quality gives files that look the same to the eye. Use PNG only when you plan to edit the image repeatedly, as PNG photos are several times larger.

How to stop your iPhone saving HEIC

If you always need JPGs, you can change the camera format on your iPhone:

    • Open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are saved as JPG (this uses more storage).
    • Or keep HEIC and set Settings → Photos → Transfer to Mac or PC to Automatic, so iOS converts photos when you copy them over a cable.
    • When sharing from the Photos app with Mail or most messaging apps, iOS usually sends a JPG automatically.

    Good to know

    • The converted copies do not keep EXIF metadata such as camera model, date taken or GPS location — which is a privacy bonus when sharing. Check what a photo contains with the EXIF Viewer.
    • For very large batches, convert 20–50 photos at a time on phones to keep the browser responsive.
    • Need a smaller file afterwards? Run the JPGs through the Image Compressor, or combine them into a document with JPG to PDF.

    HEIC to JPG Converter FAQ

How do I convert HEIC to JPG for free?

Drop your HEIC photos onto this page, keep “JPG” selected and press “Download all”. The conversion is free, needs no sign-up and has no limit on the number of photos.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The HEIC decoder runs inside your browser, so your photos stay on your device the whole time. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page and decoder have loaded.

Will converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

Slightly, because JPG is a lossy format — but at 90% quality the difference is not visible in normal viewing. Choose PNG if you need a lossless copy.

Why can’t I open HEIC files on Windows?

Windows needs the optional “HEIF Image Extensions” and “HEVC Video Extensions” packages from the Microsoft Store to display HEIC. Converting to JPG avoids needing them at all.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. On iPhone, choose photos from the Files app or Photos library; Safari decodes them natively, so conversion is very fast. On Android and desktop browsers the built-in WebAssembly decoder is used.

Why did a file fail to convert?

Either it was not really a HEIC file (for example a renamed document), or it uses a rare variant such as some HDR or burst images. Re-export the photo from the Photos app, or set your camera to “Most Compatible” for future photos.
