Turn a CSV or Excel sheet into a calendar file

Got a class timetable, exam schedule, shift roster, fixture list or event plan in a spreadsheet? The CSV to ICS converter turns each row into a calendar event and gives you one .ics file that Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and most phone calendars import in a single step.

It works with the columns you already have. Start and end can sit in separate date and time columns or be combined; dates such as 12/10/2026, 2026-10-12 or 12 Oct 2026 are understood, and you decide whether 03/04 means 3 April or March 4. Exports from Google Calendar and Outlook are recognised automatically, and so are headings in Hindi and several European languages.

The calendar file is made in your browser, so your schedule is never uploaded — and it is read back and checked before you download it.

How to use the CSV to ICS Converter

  1. Drop your CSV or Excel file on the box, or paste the CSV text.
  2. Check Match your columns: title, date, start time, end time, location, description and reminder are matched for you.
  3. Choose the Time zone of the times in the file and whether events are written in that local time or in UTC.
  4. Set Dates in the file if your dates could be read either way, and pick a default length and reminder if you want them.
  5. Press Download .ics and import it — Google Calendar: Settings → Import & export → Import; Apple Calendar: File → Import; Outlook: File → Open & Export → Import/Export.

CSV to ICS Converter features

Flexible dates and times

Separate or combined date and time columns, 24-hour or AM/PM times, ISO timestamps with Z or an offset, month names, Excel date and time cells, durations such as 90, 1:30 or 1h 30m, and overnight events that end after midnight.

Proper time zones

Events keep their local time with a VTIMEZONE built from your browser’s time-zone database — daylight-saving rules included — or are written in UTC if you prefer.

All-day events done right

Rows without a time, or marked all-day, become all-day events, and the end date is written as the iCalendar standard requires, so a one-day holiday does not spill into the next day.

Reminders

A reminder column (“15”, “1 hour”, “2 days” or yes/no) or a default reminder adds an alarm (VALARM) to each event.

Standards-compliant output

RFC 5545 iCalendar with CRLF line endings, lines folded at 75 bytes without breaking characters, escaped text, and a UID and DTSTAMP for every event — the same row always gets the same UID.

Checked before download

The finished file is parsed again and every start and end time is compared with your rows. The preview shows rows that were adjusted or skipped, and why.

Example: a timetable in, a calendar out

With “Dates in the file” on DD/MM/YYYY and the time zone Asia/Kolkata, the first row becomes a 10:00–11:30 event on 12 October 2026, the second a one-hour event at 14:00 (the default length, because it has no end), and the third an all-day event on 8 November. Press Sample above to try exactly this.

Local time or UTC?

Writing events in local time with a VTIMEZONE keeps the meaning of “10:00 in New York”: every calendar shows the event at the right moment wherever you are, and daylight-saving changes are respected. UTC is equally exact but the file no longer records the original time zone. Both import correctly into Google, Apple and Outlook calendars.

If the times in your sheet belong to another city, choose that city’s zone — the time zone converter is handy for checking. To read an .ics file someone sent you, or to turn one back into a spreadsheet, use the ICS to CSV converter.

CSV to ICS Converter FAQ

How do I convert Excel to an ICS calendar file?

Drop the .xlsx file here, check that the title, date and time columns are matched, choose your time zone and press Download .ics. There is no need to save the sheet as CSV first.

How do I import the ICS file into Google Calendar?

On a computer, open Google Calendar → Settings → Import & export, choose the .ics file and the calendar it should go into, and press Import. Importing is done on the web, not in the phone app.

My day and month are swapped. Why?

A date like 03/04/2026 can mean 3 April or March 4. The order is detected when a day above 12 appears; otherwise set “Dates in the file” to DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY.

Can I add reminders to the events?

Yes — map a reminder column or pick a default reminder. Apple Calendar and Outlook use the alarms in the file; Google Calendar may apply your calendar’s own default notifications to imported events instead.

What happens to events without an end time?

They get the length chosen under “Length when there is no end” — one hour by default. An end time earlier than the start is treated as an overnight event that finishes the next day.

Is my schedule uploaded?

No. The calendar file is built in your browser on your own device. Excel files are opened with the free SheetJS library loaded from a public CDN, but your data stays local.

What is an ICS file?

An .ics (iCalendar) file is the standard calendar format defined in RFC 5545. One file can hold a single event or thousands, and every major calendar app can import it.
