Keywords from the job ad

    Your three best results

Use numbers: what you did, by how much, for whom. Start with a verb (Built, Cut, Grew…).

One specific reason, e.g. “your plan to open 50 stores by 2028 means…” — it follows “because”.

Enter starts a new paragraph. A paragraph that starts with “• ” or “1. ” prints as a list; Heading keeps a heading with the paragraph after it. Pasted text loses its formatting. Merge fields such as {{employee_name}} fill in from the form — in bulk mode, from each CSV row.

The PDF embeds Noto Sans, so ₹, £ and accented names print exactly and the text stays selectable. The Word file opens in Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice.

      Delete saved cover letter?

Your letter is written in your browser from what you type; drafts stay in this browser. The optional AI runs on this device too — your browser’s built-in AI, or an open model downloaded only after you agree. Nothing is sent to this site.

A cover letter generator that starts from the job ad

This free cover letter generator writes a tailored letter from three things recruiters look for: the job ad’s own keywords, results with numbers, and a specific reason for wanting this company. Paste the advertisement, add your best results, pick a tone and a length, and the letter is built on a fixed structure — hook, match, proof, the work itself, company fit and close — that you can then edit sentence by sentence.

You also get the same letter as an email with a subject line, a short LinkedIn message for the hiring manager, and PDF and Word downloads that follow Indian, US or UK conventions. An optional Write with AI button rewrites the body on your device, with the template kept as the fallback. Drafts are saved only in this browser.

How to use the Cover Letter Generator

      1. Fill in Your details: name, contact line, current title and key skills.
      2. Under The job, enter the role and company, the hiring manager if you know them, and paste the whole job ad.
      3. Look at Keywords from the job ad. Skills already in your own words are ticked; tick others only if they are true, and they are woven into the letter.
      4. Add Your three best results with numbers and one reason for choosing this company, then pick a tone, a length and the region.
      5. Edit the text if you like, then download the PDF or Word file, or copy the email or LinkedIn message.

      Cover Letter Generator features

      Built from the job ad

Up to 12 skills, tools and credentials are pulled from the ad, and the panel shows which of them the letter now contains.

      Structured, not generic

Each paragraph has one job: the hook, the skills match, your results as bullets, the first tasks from the ad, why this company, and a clear close.

      Three tones, three lengths

Formal, warm or confident; about 150, 250 or 350 words, with a counter that shows the body length as you edit.

      Regional conventions

Date style, salutation punctuation and sign-off follow Indian, US or UK practice, including “Yours faithfully” when you don’t know the reader’s name.

      Email and LinkedIn versions

A subject line and body for email applications, and a short note to the hiring manager.

      Optional on-device AI

Your browser’s built-in AI or IBM’s open Granite model (Apache-2.0, downloaded only with your consent) rewrites the body from the same facts and lists any number it added.

      The structure behind each letter

      1. Hook — the role, where you saw it and who you are, in two sentences.
      2. Match — the job-ad keywords you ticked, in the ad’s own words, so a recruiter or a keyword search finds them.
      3. Proof — your results as bullets; numbers make a claim checkable.
      4. The work — the first tasks from the ad’s bullet list, turned into “I would start by…”, which shows you read it.
      5. Company fit — your specific reason after “because”. Generic praise such as “a leading company” is what readers skip.
      6. Close — a request for a conversation and a note that your resume is attached.

      Worked example

With the example loaded — a data analyst applying to Northwind Retail — the job ad yields 12 keywords. Excel, Power BI, Python, SQL, dashboards and A/B testing are ticked because they appear in the skills or results; Tableau, Snowflake, statistics and the rest stay unticked until you confirm them. The formal, medium letter comes to 228 words: the hook names Excel, Power BI and Python, the match paragraph SQL, dashboards and A/B testing, three results follow as bullets, and the ad’s first two tasks become “I would start by building dashboards in Tableau or Power BI…, then writing SQL queries against your Snowflake warehouse…”. Eight of the 12 keywords end up in the letter.

      Using AI without inventing things

Language models fill gaps with likely-sounding details. The prompt sent to the on-device model lists only your facts and asks for placeholders in [square brackets] for anything missing; afterwards, the page compares every number in the AI text with the numbers you typed and names any that are new or left out. Check those before you send.

To see whether your resume matches the same ad, run it through the ATS resume checker. If you are hiring rather than applying, the job description generator writes the other side, and the resume builder makes a clean resume to attach.

      Cover Letter Generator FAQ

How do I write a cover letter for a job application?

Open with the role and who you are, match your skills to the job ad, prove them with one to three results with numbers, say why this company, and close by asking for a conversation. This cover letter generator assembles those parts from your details.

How long should a cover letter be?

Under one page. About 150 words suits an email or a short form, about 250 most roles, and up to 350 a senior role or an ad that asks for a detailed letter.

      Is “Dear Hiring Manager” acceptable?

Yes, when you can’t find a name. In British and Indian style a letter to an unnamed reader closes with “Yours faithfully”; in the US, “Sincerely” works either way.

Should I use keywords from the job description?

Yes, where they are true. Recruiters and keyword searches look for the ad’s own wording, so tick only the skills you have and the generator uses the ad’s phrasing.

Can I write a cover letter as a fresher?

Yes. Leave current title and employer blank and use results from internships, projects or college, for example “Built a sales dashboard for a 40-store chain during my internship”.

      Is my information private?

Yes. The letter is generated in your browser, drafts are stored only on this device, and the optional AI runs on your device after you agree to any download.
