An estimate, not financial or tax advice. A hike on CTC is not the same as a rise in take-home pay: variable pay, employer contributions and higher tax brackets all change what reaches your account.

Salary hike calculator: new salary, hike percentage and in-hand increase

This salary hike calculator answers the two questions everyone asks at appraisal or offer time: “what will my new salary be after a 10% (or 30%) hike?” and “what hike percentage is this offer?”. Enter your current salary or CTC and a hike percentage to see the new salary a year and a month, or switch to Hike % and enter the old and new figures to get the exact increment percentage.

It goes one step further than a plain percentage: it also estimates how much more reaches your account each month. For Indian rupees it runs the same CTC-to-in-hand engine as this site’s CTC calculator (new tax regime for 2026-27, PF, gratuity and professional tax); for pounds it uses the 2026/27 UK take-home rules; for dollars, dirhams or euros you can enter your own deduction rate. A table shows what 5% to 50% hikes would give, and an optional inflation figure turns the hike into a real (inflation-adjusted) one. A projection then compounds a yearly hike for up to 40 years and works out the hike you need each year to reach a target salary.

How to use the Salary Hike Calculator

  1. Choose the currency and whether you are entering salaries per year (annual CTC) or per month.
  2. Type your current salary.
  3. To find the new salary, keep New salary selected and enter the hike %. To find the hike %, choose Hike % and enter the new salary.
  4. For rupees, add any variable pay share and your state; for dollars, dirhams or euros, add your usual deductions to see the in-hand change.
  5. Optionally enter inflation, then read the result, the scenario table and the notes.
  6. Under Salary over the next years, set the years, a different yearly hike if you like, and a target salary; then copy the summary.

Salary hike formulas with examples

New salary = current salary × (1 + hike % ÷ 100). A 10% hike on ₹8,00,000 gives ₹8,80,000 — ₹80,000 more a year, or about ₹6,667 a month before deductions. A 30% hike on 6 LPA gives 7.8 LPA.

Hike percentage = (new salary − current salary) ÷ current salary × 100. Moving from ₹8,00,000 to ₹9,50,000 is a 18.75% hike; from $60,000 to $66,000 is 10%; from AED 15,000 to AED 16,500 a month is also 10%.

Real hike = (1 + hike) ÷ (1 + inflation) − 1. A 10% hike with 5% inflation is a real rise of about 4.76%, not 5%.

Salary projection for the next 10 years

Yearly hikes compound: each one applies to the salary already raised. At 10% a year, ₹8,00,000 becomes ₹8,80,000 after one year and ₹20,74,994 after ten (8,00,000 × 1.1¹⁰), about 2.6 times today’s pay. At 8% a year it is ₹11,75,462 after five years.

Hike needed for a target = (target ÷ current salary)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. To go from ₹8 lakh to ₹15 lakh in five years you need about 13.4% a year; at 8% a year it takes about 8.2 years. With an inflation rate entered, the table also shows each year’s salary in today’s money, so you can see whether your buying power grows. Real raises vary with performance, promotions and job changes, and in-hand pay is not projected because future tax rules are unknown.

Why the in-hand increase is smaller than the CTC hike

In India, CTC includes employer PF, gratuity and sometimes insurance and variable pay, so a 10% CTC hike lifts monthly in-hand pay by a little less than 10% of the old monthly CTC — and income tax rises as you cross slabs. With the default assumptions, 8 LPA gives about ₹58,856 a month in hand and 8.8 LPA about ₹65,362, an increase of roughly ₹6,500 rather than ₹6,667. If part of the hike is variable pay, the monthly increase is smaller still.

For a detailed salary structure use the CTC calculator or the in-hand salary calculator; in the UK use the UK take-home pay calculator. To put the new figures on paper, the increment letter generator drafts the letter.

Salary Hike Calculator FAQ

How do I calculate my salary hike percentage?

Subtract your current salary from the new one, divide by the current salary and multiply by 100. ₹9,50,000 − ₹8,00,000 = ₹1,50,000; ÷ ₹8,00,000 × 100 = 18.75%. Choose “Hike %” in the salary hike calculator to do it instantly.

How much is a 30% hike on 6 LPA?

6 LPA × 1.30 = 7.8 LPA (₹7,80,000 a year, ₹65,000 a month of CTC). Your in-hand pay rises by less, because PF, gratuity and tax take a share.

Is the hike calculated on CTC or in-hand salary?

Employers in India usually quote hikes on CTC (or fixed CTC). This calculator shows both the CTC change and the estimated in-hand change.

What is the difference between an increment and a hike?

They mean the same thing: an increase in pay, usually given as a percentage at an appraisal, promotion or job change.

How do I know if my hike beats inflation?

Enter your inflation rate. If the real hike is below zero, prices have risen faster than your pay and your buying power fell.

How do I calculate my salary for the next 10 years?

Multiply your salary by (1 + yearly hike) once for each year: ₹8,00,000 × 1.1¹⁰ = ₹20,74,994 at 10% a year. The projection table does this for every year.

Is my salary data stored or sent anywhere?

No. All calculations run in your browser. The result is an estimate, not financial or tax advice.
