Bank Statement PDF to CSV Converter

Turn a bank statement PDF into a clean transactions table — CSV, Excel-ready CSV or JSON — without uploading it.

Open a bank statement PDF

Read only in this browser — nothing is uploaded. Text PDFs downloaded from net banking; scanned statements need OCR first.

Check the totals against your statement before you rely on the export. This converter reads the text layer only; it never contacts your bank. Informational tool — not financial advice.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Bank statement to CSV, privately in your browser

Banks hand out statements as PDFs, but budgeting apps, accountants and spreadsheets want rows and columns. This bank statement to CSV converter reads a statement PDF on your own device, finds the transactions table — date, narration, reference, value date, withdrawals, deposits and balance — and gives you a clean file: plain CSV, an Excel-ready CSV or JSON.

It handles the things that break copy-and-paste: narrations wrapped over two or three lines, headers repeated on every page, amounts with commas or “Cr/Dr”, statements listed newest-first, and password-protected PDFs (you type the password; it never leaves the page). It then checks every running balance — previous balance plus credits minus debits must equal the balance printed — so you know nothing was missed or misread.

Nothing is uploaded and no bank login is involved. It works with text PDFs downloaded from net banking; a scanned or photographed statement needs OCR first. Check the totals before relying on the export.

How to use the Bank Statement to CSV

  1. Download the statement PDF from your net banking and drop it in the box.
  2. If it is password-protected, enter the password your bank uses and press Unlock.
  3. Check Columns found; change any column the converter labelled wrongly, and the date order if needed.
  4. Look at the balance check — a red row means something does not add up there.
  5. Download CSV, Excel CSV or JSON.

Bank Statement to CSV features

Column detection by position

Header words and their x-positions on the page define the columns, so amounts land in the right one even when cells are empty.

Wrapped narrations joined

Lines without a date just below a transaction are added to its narration or reference.

Running-balance check

Each row verified against the previous balance, the opening and the closing balance; newest-first statements detected.

Password-protected PDFs

Unlocked locally with pdf.js after you type the password.

Three export formats

CSV with ISO dates, Excel-ready CSV (BOM, long reference numbers kept as text) and JSON with page numbers.

How the conversion works

pdf.js extracts every text fragment with its coordinates. The converter groups fragments into lines, looks for a header line containing words like Date, Narration, Withdrawal, Deposit and Balance, and splits the page into vertical bands between those headings. Each later line is cut along the same bands. A line whose date band holds a valid date starts a new transaction; a dateless line just below it continues the narration. Lines that mention a closing balance or totals end the table, and the header found again on page 2 simply continues it.

Example: a two-page statement opening at ₹10,000 with five transactions — ₹450 UPI, ₹85,000 salary, ₹5,000 ATM, ₹2,345.50 card and ₹123 interest — becomes five CSV rows ending at a balance of ₹87,327.50, with all five balance checks passing.

Output columns

Open the Excel CSV straight in Excel or Google Sheets, or convert the plain CSV to a workbook with CSV to XLSX.

ColumnFormat
Date, Value dateISO 8601 (2026-04-01) — sorts correctly everywhere
Narration, ReferenceText exactly as printed, wrapped lines joined with a space
Debit, CreditPositive numbers with two decimals, empty when not applicable
BalanceSigned number; “Dr” balances become negative

When it may struggle

  • Scanned statements: there is no text to read — OCR the PDF first.
  • Unusual layouts, such as transactions printed as paragraphs, or columns without a header row. Try PDF table extractor or PDF to Excel.
  • Two-line headers where the money columns are named only on the second line — map those columns by hand in Columns found.
  • Statements in other languages or with dates like “1st April” — choose the column roles manually.

Bank Statement to CSV FAQ

How do I convert a bank statement PDF to CSV?

Open the PDF in this bank statement to CSV converter, check the detected columns and download the CSV. Everything happens in your browser.

Is it safe to convert my bank statement here?

The file is read only by your browser; it is not uploaded, stored or sent anywhere, and the page works without logging in to anything.

What is the password for my bank statement PDF?

Banks usually combine part of your name, customer ID or date of birth; the email with the statement explains the format. You type it here and it stays on your device.

Can I open the result in Excel?

Yes — use Excel CSV. It adds a byte-order mark so ₹ and accents display correctly and keeps long reference numbers from turning into scientific notation.

Why are some rows marked with a cross?

The balance printed on that row does not equal the previous balance plus credits minus debits. Usually a column is mapped wrongly or a row was missed; the row after a wrong one is flagged too.

Does it work for every bank?

It works for tabular statements with a header row, which covers most Indian and international banks, but layouts vary — always check the balance result.
