An anniversary calculator for years, months and days married

How long have you been married? Enter your wedding date and this anniversary calculator shows the answer in years, months and days, the total number of days, weeks and months, the date and weekday of your next anniversary with a countdown, and the next milestones worth celebrating — 1,000 days, 5,000 days, 10,000 days, 500 weeks, 100 months and the silver, ruby and golden years.

It works just as well for the day you met, got engaged or moved in together, for a work anniversary or any other date you want to count from. Change Count up to to see how long you will have been married on a future date, such as a holiday or a party. Everything is worked out in your browser — no app to install, no sign-up and nothing saved.

How to use the Anniversary Calculator

  1. Enter your wedding date, or the day your relationship began.
  2. Leave Count up to on today, or choose another date to see the result on that day.
  3. Read the years, months and days married, and the totals in days, weeks and months.
  4. Check when your next anniversary falls and how many days are left, and scan the table of upcoming milestones.
  5. Press Copy the dates to paste them into a message or calendar, or open Gift ideas by year for the traditional and modern themes.

Anniversary Calculator features

Years, months and days

Whole calendar months are counted from the wedding date, then the leftover days, so month lengths and leap years are handled exactly.

Day, week and month totals

The total days married, weeks plus days, and whole months — the numbers behind “1,000 days together” posts.

Next anniversary countdown

The date, weekday and days to go, with a bar showing how far through the year you are.

Milestone finder

The next six milestones in date order: anniversaries (with silver, ruby and golden marked), round day counts, 100-week and 100-month marks.

29 February weddings

Leap-day couples get their anniversary on 28 February in common years and on the 29th in leap years.

How the anniversary calculator counts

Years and months are calendar units, not fixed numbers of days, so the calculator counts whole months forward from the wedding date and then the days left over. Married on 14 February 2019 and counting on 19 October 2026, you have been married 7 years, 8 months and 5 days — 2,804 days, which is 400 weeks and 4 days, or 92 whole months. Your 8th anniversary falls on Sunday 14 February 2027, 118 days later.

When a month is shorter than the wedding day, the count lands on that month’s last day: from 31 January, one month later is 28 (or 29) February. Day totals count the wedding day as day 0, so the day after your wedding is “1 day married”. The same rules are used by the date difference calculator and the age calculator.

Anniversary milestones worth celebrating

Exact day counts depend on how many 29 Februarys fall in between, which the calculator works out for your dates. For the full list of traditional and modern themes from the 1st to the 80th year, see anniversary gifts by year; to pick a future date for a vow renewal, try the wedding date finder.

Anniversary calculator in Excel or Google Sheets

With the wedding date in cell A2, =TODAY()-A2 gives the days married (format the cell as a number). =DATEDIF(A2,TODAY(),"y") gives whole years, "ym" the extra months and "md" the extra days. Microsoft warns that the "md" option can return wrong results near month ends, which is one reason to check here.

For the next anniversary use =DATE(YEAR(A2)+DATEDIF(A2,TODAY(),"y")+1,MONTH(A2),DAY(A2)). For a 29 February date in a common year, Excel rolls that over to 1 March, while this calculator uses 28 February.

Anniversary Calculator FAQ

How do I calculate how long I have been married?

Enter your wedding date in the anniversary calculator. It counts whole years and months forward from that date, then the remaining days, and also shows the total days, weeks and months married.

How many days have we been married?

The first figure under the result is the total days from the wedding day to today (or the “Count up to” date). For example, 14 February 2019 to 19 October 2026 is 2,804 days.

When is our 1,000-day anniversary?

It is 1,000 days after the wedding — about 2 years and 9 months. If it is still ahead, the milestones table lists its exact date and weekday.

What if we married on 29 February?

In years without a 29 February, the calculator places your anniversary on 28 February; in leap years it is on the 29th. Some couples prefer 1 March — the day count is the same either way.

Can I use it for a relationship or work anniversary?

Yes. Enter any start date — the day you met, got engaged, moved in or started a job — and the calculator counts the time since then in the same way.

Is my wedding date stored anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent or saved.
