A free voice changer for recordings
This voice changer turns your voice into something else: deeper and bigger, high and squeaky like a cartoon chipmunk, a monotone robot, a ring-modulated alien, a crackly telephone or AM radio, a voice echoing in a canyon, a singer in a large hall, or a breathy whisper. Record straight from your microphone or open any audio file, tap an effect to hear it instantly, and save the result as MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG.
It is made for fun and creative work — character voices for videos, games and animations, podcast intros, radio-play sound effects, school projects, or simply surprising your friends. A Custom setting lets you set the pitch and the voice’s formants separately, so you can design your own character.
Please use it kindly and honestly: do not use a changed voice to impersonate a real person, to deceive or defraud anyone, or to harass people. Your recording stays on your device — nothing is uploaded or saved anywhere.
How to use the Voice Changer
- Press Record your voice and allow the microphone, speak, then press Stop — or drop an existing audio file onto the box.
- Tap an Effect. With “Play a preview when I pick an effect” ticked, you hear the first eight seconds straight away; tap the waveform to preview from another spot.
- For Custom, move the Pitch and Formant shift sliders; use Effect mix to blend in some of the original voice.
- Choose the format under Save as and press Apply effect.
- Listen in the After player and press Download. Try another effect on the same recording as often as you like.
Voice Changer features
Ten effects
Deep, chipmunk, robot, alien, telephone, radio, echo, reverb, whisper and a custom pitch-and-formant voice.
Record or upload
Record in the browser (up to 5 minutes) or open MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, Opus, FLAC or WebM audio up to an hour long.
Instant preview
Each effect is rendered on an eight-second excerpt as soon as you pick it, and updates when you move a slider.
Pitch and formants apart
A phase-vocoder pitch shifter with spectral-envelope warping changes how high the voice is and how big the speaker sounds independently.
Real room sound
Reverb uses a generated two-second stereo impulse response that darkens as it decays, like a real hall; echo adds repeats until they fade away.
Private, free, no watermark
All processing runs on your device and the downloads are yours to use.
What each effect does
| Effect | How it is made |
|---|---|
| Deep | Pitch down 5 semitones, formants down 3 — a larger, deeper speaker |
| Chipmunk | Pitch up 8 semitones with the formants following, at the same speed |
| Robot | Every frame’s phases are reset so the voice sits on a steady 95 Hz buzz |
| Alien | Pitch up 3, formants up 5, then ring modulation at 40 Hz |
| Telephone | 300–3,400 Hz band, the range of a classic phone line, with light distortion |
| Radio | 200–4,800 Hz band, saturation and faint static, like AM radio |
| Echo | Repeats every 0.28 s, each at 45 % of the last, until they fade below −60 dB |
| Reverb | Convolution with a 2-second hall impulse response |
| Whisper | The harmonics are replaced by noise shaped like the voice |
Pitch versus formants
Two things make a voice sound high or low. Pitch is how fast the vocal cords vibrate — the note. Formants are the resonances of the throat and mouth, which tell the listener how big the speaker is. A child’s voice has both a higher pitch and higher formants than an adult’s.
Shift only the pitch and keep the formants, and you sound like yourself singing higher or lower. Shift both together and you get a cartoon chipmunk or a slowed-down giant. Move the formants against the pitch — low pitch with high formants, for example — and you get odd, other-worldly characters. The Custom effect lets you explore all of these; for precise musical key changes use the Audio Pitch Changer.
Tips for a good recording
- Speak 10–20 cm from the microphone in a quiet room; the Mic Test shows whether your microphone works and how loud it is.
- Effects exaggerate background noise. Clean a noisy recording with the Audio Noise Remover before changing the voice.
- Speak a little more slowly than usual for robot and alien voices — the words stay clearer.
- To record longer takes with pause and resume, use the Voice Recorder and open its file here.
Voice Changer FAQ
How do I change my voice online for free?
Press Record your voice, speak, press Stop, then tap an effect such as Deep or Robot to hear it. Press Apply effect and Download to save it. This voice changer is free and works without an account.
Can I use the voice changer live, while I talk?
No — it changes recordings, not a live call. Record a short clip, pick an effect and the preview plays within a moment.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Recording, effects and encoding all happen in your browser. Close the tab and the recording is gone.
Which file formats can I save?
MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, FLAC and OGG Vorbis. MP3 is the best choice for sharing; WAV keeps full quality for editing.
Why does the echo or reverb file last longer?
The echoes and the reverb tail continue after you stop speaking, so about 2–2.5 seconds are added to the end instead of cutting them off.
Can I use a changed voice in my videos?
Yes — the files are yours. Do not use it to pretend to be a real person, to mislead anyone or for fraud or harassment.
