Growth table

Estimates assume a constant rate and token price. Real staking yields change with network participation, inflation schedules, slashing, lock-up and unbonding periods, and the token price can fall by more than you earn. Informational only, not investment or tax advice.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Staking rewards calculator with APR, APY and commission

Proof-of-stake networks such as Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, Polkadot and Cosmos pay rewards to people who lock up tokens to help secure the chain. Rates are quoted in confusing ways: some as APR (simple annual rate), some as APY (including the effect of compounding), some before and some after the validator’s commission. This staking rewards calculator puts them on one footing: enter the amount, the rate and how it is quoted, how often rewards are restaked and the commission, and it shows your balance, rewards, net APR and effective APY for any duration.

A month-by-month (or year-by-year) table and a chart show the balance growing, and a reverse mode tells you what APR you would need to reach a target balance. If you type a token price, rewards are also shown in money — at that constant price, because the calculator cannot know what the price will do.

Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is fetched. The results are estimates, informational only and not investment or tax advice.

How to use the Staking Rewards Calculator

  1. Enter the Tokens staked and, optionally, the token symbol.
  2. Choose whether the quoted rate is an APR or an APY, and enter it as the network or exchange quotes it.
  3. Pick the Compounding frequency — how often rewards are restaked — or “None” if rewards are paid out and not restaked.
  4. Set the Duration in months and the Validator commission if the quoted rate is before commission.
  5. For crypto compound interest, choose Daily or Weekly compounding; the Net APY tile converts your APR to its effective yearly rate.
  6. Read the balance, rewards and effective rates; use Reverse to find the rate a target needs, and download the table as CSV.

Staking Rewards Calculator features

APR and APY handled correctly

An APY is converted to the matching periodic rate for your compounding frequency, so 5% APY grows 1,000 to exactly 1,050 in a year.

Commission built in

The validator’s cut is taken from rewards, and the amount paid as commission is shown separately.

Six compounding choices

No restaking (simple interest), daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly.

Reverse mode

Find the net APR, the quoted APR before commission and the APY needed to reach a target balance.

Table, chart and CSV

Monthly rows up to three years, yearly rows beyond, with an optional value column at your token price.

Formulas used

With net APR r (the quoted APR × (1 − commission)), n compounding periods a year and t years, the balance is P × (1 + r/n)n·t. Without restaking it is P × (1 + r·t). The effective APY is (1 + r/n)n − 1. An APY quote is first turned into an APR with n × ((1 + APY)1/n − 1).

Worked example: 1,000 tokens at 5% APR, restaked monthly for a year: 1,000 × (1 + 0.05/12)12 = 1,051.16, an APY of 5.116%. With a 10% validator commission the net APR is 4.5% and the balance is 1,045.94. To reach 1,100 in a year with monthly restaking you would need a net APR of about 9.57%.

What the headline rate leaves out

  • Token price. Rewards are paid in the token. A 5% yield does not help if the price falls 30%.
  • Inflation. Many networks pay staking rewards by issuing new tokens; if most holders stake, your share of the network barely changes.
  • Lock-up and unbonding. Cosmos chains typically take 21 days to unstake, Polkadot 28; Ethereum withdrawals queue. You cannot sell during that time.
  • Slashing. Validators that misbehave or go offline can lose part of the stake, including delegators’ share.
  • Tax. In many countries rewards are income when received. Keep the CSV for your records and check local rules.

Staking Rewards Calculator FAQ

How are staking rewards calculated?

Multiply the staked amount by the net rate for each period and add it to the balance if rewards are restaked. This staking rewards calculator uses P × (1 + r/n)^(n·t) with r = APR × (1 − commission).

What is the difference between APR and APY in staking?

APR is the simple yearly rate. APY includes the extra growth from restaking rewards. 5% APR restaked monthly is a 5.116% APY; if rewards are not restaked, APR and APY are the same.

Does the quoted staking rate include validator commission?

It depends on the source. Exchanges usually quote a net rate; block explorers and network dashboards often quote gross rates. Enter commission only if your rate is before commission.

How often should I restake?

More frequent restaking earns slightly more, but each restake can cost a transaction fee. On small balances weekly or monthly is often better than daily once fees are included.

How do I calculate crypto compound interest with daily compounding?

Set the rate type to APR, choose Daily and enter the duration. The balance is P × (1 + APR/365)^(365·t): 1,000 tokens at 5% APR for a year becomes 1,051.27, an APY of 5.127%. Daily compounding adds only about 0.01 percentage points over monthly at 5%, so fees on each restake can outweigh it.

How do I convert crypto APR to APY?

Use APY = (1 + APR/n)^n − 1, where n is the compounding periods a year (365 for daily, 52 weekly). 10% APR compounded daily is a 10.516% APY. The Net APY tile shows this for your inputs, and APY mode works the other way.

Can I lose money staking?

Yes. The token price can fall, validators can be slashed and lock-ups can stop you selling. The calculator shows token amounts at a constant rate, not a guarantee.

Is this tax or investment advice?

No. It is an estimate tool. Check your local tax treatment of staking rewards with a qualified adviser.
