An online soundboard and sampler that keeps your sounds
This online soundboard gives you 16 pads you can hit with the mouse, a finger or the keyboard. It starts with a set of drum hits and classic sound effects — a ding, a wrong-answer buzzer, a laser, a coin, a whoosh, an air horn and a ba-dum-tss — and you can load your own sounds onto any pad to make a custom sampler or sound effects board for streams, podcasts, lessons, game nights or beat-making.
Your sounds are stored in your own browser (IndexedDB), so they are still there next time on the same device, and they are never uploaded. Record a performance and download it as a WAV file.
How to use the Soundboard & Sampler Pads
- Tap a pad or press its key: 1–4, Q–R, A–F and Z–V, laid out like the pads.
- Under Edit a pad, pick a pad, then drop an audio file on the box to load your own sound. Rename it if you like.
- Choose the play mode: One shot, Loop (press again to stop) or Hold (plays while held), and set the pad volume.
- Press Record, play, then Stop recording. Use Play recording to hear it and Download WAV to save it.
- Press Stop all (or reload) to silence everything; Reset pad restores the built-in sound.
Soundboard & Sampler Pads features
16 pads, three modes
One shot, loop and hold per pad, each with its own volume.
Built-in sounds made in code
Every default sound is synthesised in your browser, so there are no sample licences to worry about.
Your own sounds kept locally
WAV, MP3, M4A, OGG and more (whatever your browser can decode), up to 20 MB per pad, saved in IndexedDB.
Keyboard and touch
Low-latency Web Audio playback with pointer capture, so fast drumming works on phones too.
Sample-accurate recording
Your hits are logged and rendered offline into a clean 16-bit stereo WAV, not captured from the speakers.
The built-in sounds
They are built from sine and square oscillators, filtered noise, pitch sweeps and frequency modulation, the same building blocks as an analogue drum machine. You can use them in your own videos, streams and music.
| Row | Keys | Pads |
|---|---|---|
| Drums | 1 2 3 4 | Kick, snare, clap, closed hi-hat |
| More drums | Q W E R | Open hi-hat, tom, rimshot, cowbell |
| Effects | A S D F | Ding, wrong buzzer, laser, coin |
| Effects | Z X C V | Whoosh, air horn, boing, ba-dum-tss |
Tips for a good soundboard
- Trim silence from the start of each clip so the pad fires the moment you hit it — the audio cutter does this.
- Level your clips before loading them, or use the pad volume, so no effect is much louder than the rest. The audio normalizer can match them.
- Use loop mode for music beds and ambience, and hold mode for sounds you want to stop exactly, like a long drone.
- For a full drum kit with a step sequencer, try the virtual drum kit.
- Only load sounds you have the right to use if you publish what you record.
Where your sounds are stored
Loaded files are kept in your browser’s IndexedDB for this site, on this device only. Clearing site data or using a private window removes them, and they do not sync to other devices. Nothing is sent to a server. Reset a pad to delete its stored file.
