A free save the date maker with photo, video and calendar file
This save the date maker designs a save-the-date card in a few minutes. Choose one of six designs drawn for this tool — a framed photo, an arch photo with leaf sprigs, a month calendar with your day marked by a heart, a big-numeral date, a marigold garland for Indian weddings or a botanical wreath — then add your names, the date, the city and a short note.
You get four things to send: a print-ready PDF, a PNG for WhatsApp, Instagram or email, a short video that zooms and fades your card in for a status or story, and an .ics calendar file guests can tap to add the date to Google, Apple or Outlook calendars. There is no watermark and no sign-up, and your photo never leaves your device.
How to use the Save the Date Maker
- Pick a design, a card size (5 × 7 in, A6, A5, square or a 9:16 phone story) and whether to print on card paper or A4/Letter with crop marks.
- Press Add photo for the photo designs and use Zoom and Move to frame you both; without a photo your initials appear instead.
- Choose a headline, type the names, pick the wedding date and how it should read on the card, then the place and a note such as “Formal invitation to follow”.
- Press Download PNG to share, Download PDF to print, or Print card.
- Under Calendar file and video, add a start time and time zone if you like, then download the .ics file and the 6-second video.
Save the Date Maker features
Six original designs
Photo frame, arch, calendar month, big date, marigold garland and botanical wreath, all vector artwork that prints sharply.
Your photo, framed
Rectangle, arch or circle frames with zoom and position controls; the photo appears in the preview, PNG, PDF, print and video.
Calendar file for guests
A standard iCalendar (.ics) event — all-day, or timed and converted correctly from the wedding’s time zone, daylight saving included.
Short video
A 6-second zoom-and-fade clip recorded in your browser as MP4 where the browser supports it, otherwise WebM.
Hindi and Marathi
Pick “शुभ विवाह” or type any line in Devanagari; the PDF then saves as a 300 dpi image so the letters print exactly as shown.
Private and free
No upload, no account and no watermark.
When to send save-the-dates and what to put on them
Wedding planners commonly suggest sending save-the-dates about four to six months before a local wedding, and earlier — often eight to twelve months — for a destination wedding or a date in a busy season, so guests can book leave, travel and rooms. Formal invitations then follow about six to eight weeks before the day. (Guidance as published by wedding planning guides such as Zola’s, checked October 2026; families and cultures vary.)
Keep the card short: who is marrying, the date, the city (the full venue can wait for the invitation) and a line saying an invitation will follow. A wedding website or hashtag is useful if you have one. Still choosing a day? The wedding date and muhurat finder lists auspicious and popular dates, and the wedding checklist puts save-the-dates on your timeline.
Sizes, sharing and printing
For phones, download the PNG at 150 dpi (light and sharp) or the video. For printing, use the PDF at 100% scale on 250–300 gsm card, or choose A4/Letter with crop marks and trim at home. Matching invitations can be made with the wedding card maker and the wording from the invitation wording generator.
| Size | Millimetres | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 5 × 7 in | 127 × 178 | Printed cards in A7 envelopes (US, UK) |
| A6 | 105 × 148 | Postcard-style cards; C6 envelopes |
| A5 | 148 × 210 | Larger printed cards, common in India |
| Square 5 × 5 in | 127 × 127 | WhatsApp, Instagram posts and email |
| 9:16 phone story | 90 × 160 | WhatsApp status, Instagram and Facebook stories, and the video |
How the calendar file and video work
The .ics file follows the iCalendar standard (RFC 5545): with no start time it is an all-day event; with a time, the time is converted from the time zone you pick to UTC, using your browser’s time-zone rules, so a guest in another country sees the right local time. The video is drawn frame by frame on a canvas and recorded with the browser’s MediaRecorder at up to 1280 pixels on the long side; nothing is uploaded or processed on a server. Older browsers without MediaRecorder can still use the PNG.
Save the Date Maker FAQ
Is this save the date maker free?
Yes — no sign-up and no watermark. The PDF, PNG, video and calendar file are created in your browser.
Can I make a save the date with our photo?
Yes. Choose the photo, arch, marigold or botanical design, press Add photo and adjust the zoom and position. Without a photo, your initials are shown in the frame.
How do I send a save the date on WhatsApp?
Choose the square or 9:16 story size and press Download PNG, or download the 6-second video for your status, then share it from your gallery. Send the .ics file too so guests can add the date in one tap.
How far in advance should save the dates go out?
Commonly four to six months before a local wedding and eight to twelve months before a destination wedding; invitations follow six to eight weeks before.
Is there a save the date maker app or AI version?
This page works like an app in any phone browser with nothing to install. It is not AI: you choose the design and words, and the card is drawn from templates, so the result is predictable and private.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. It is read, cropped and drawn on your device; the video is recorded locally too.
