A free restaurant menu maker with veg and non-veg marks
This restaurant menu maker turns a plain list of dishes into a menu card you can print, save as a PDF or post as an image. Type one dish per line with its price, and optionally a description and a calories or allergen line; start a new section with a line such as “Starters:” or “Mains: Half / Full”. The layout flows into one, two or three columns and onto extra pages by itself, so a café board with ten items and a 60-dish dhaba menu both come out tidy.
Indian menus get the details right: the green vegetarian and brown non-vegetarian marks in front of each dish name, half and full portion prices side by side, ₹ prices with Indian digit grouping, an optional FSSAI licence line and a short note such as “All prices include GST”. Three templates suit a family restaurant, an event caterer or a cloud-kitchen menu screen.
Everything is drawn in your browser and the menu is saved only on this device. Add a QR code that links to your online menu, reviews page or ordering link, and the printed card does double duty.

Restaurant Menu Maker features
FSSAI-style diet marks
A green filled circle in a green square for vegetarian dishes and a brown filled triangle in a brown square for non-vegetarian ones, with an optional key at the bottom.
Half / full and market prices
Two prices per dish, a section note that labels them, and text such as “MP” for market-priced seafood.
Three templates
Classic serif with dotted leaders, modern sans with colour bands, and a dark chalkboard with white tiles behind the marks so they stay visible.
Automatic columns and pages
Sections stay together with their first dish; long menus continue on the next page in A4, US Letter, A5 or Legal, portrait or landscape.
Print, vector PDF, PNG, text
The PDF is sharp at any size and the ₹ sign is drawn as a vector shape, so it never turns into a question mark.
QR code
Optional QR code linking to your online menu, reviews or ordering page, with a caption.
The vegetarian and non-vegetarian marks on Indian menus
FSSAI’s guidance note on menu labelling (23 February 2022) describes the two logos for menus: for dishes made from vegetarian sources such as cereals, pulses, vegetables, fruit, milk and milk products, a dark green filled circle inside a square with a green outline; for dishes containing egg, meat, fish or seafood, a brown filled triangle inside a square with a brown outline, placed in front of the dish name. The triangle replaced the older brown circle so that the two marks differ in shape as well as colour. Egg dishes take the brown mark.
Displaying these logos, calories per serving (with the serving size) and allergen information on menu cards and boards is mandatory for food service establishments with a central FSSAI licence or outlets in ten or more locations, under sub-regulation 2.4.6 of the FSS (Packaging and Labelling) First Amendment Regulations, 2020, applied from 1 January 2022. Smaller restaurants are not obliged to, but most Indian diners look for the marks anyway. This tool helps you lay the information out; it does not check your recipes, calorie values or licence category.
What to put on a menu card
- Clear sections in the order people order: starters, mains, breads and rice, desserts, drinks.
- A one-line description for anything a guest might not know — the main ingredients and the cooking style sell better than adjectives.
- Allergens that matter: FSSAI’s list covers gluten cereals, crustaceans, milk, eggs, fish, peanuts and tree nuts, soy and sulphites. A short “contains milk, nuts” line is enough.
- Calories and serving size if you are a chain; the optional reference statement reads “An average active adult requires 2,000 kcal energy per day, however, calorie needs may vary.”
- Tax and service: say whether prices include GST, so the bill holds no surprises.
Menu or price list?
A menu sells dishes; a rate card lists products. For a shop, salon or tiffin service that needs units, GST-inclusive or GST-extra prices and a WhatsApp image, use the price list maker. To set the prices themselves, work out the plate cost with the food cost calculator, and check which FSSAI registration or licence you need with the FSSAI licence fee calculator. For table-top QR stickers that point to a PDF of this menu, make a larger code with the QR code generator.
Restaurant Menu Maker FAQ
How do I make a restaurant menu for free?
Type your dishes and prices in the box, one per line, choose a template and press Download PDF or Print menu. There is no sign-up and nothing is uploaded.
How do I add veg and non-veg symbols to my menu?
Write v (vegetarian) or nv (non-vegetarian) in the third column of each dish line. The menu maker draws the green circle-in-square or brown triangle-in-square in front of the dish name and can explain both at the bottom.
Is an egg dish veg or non-veg?
Non-vegetarian. FSSAI’s menu guidance puts dishes containing egg, meat, fish or seafood under the brown mark; milk and milk products count as vegetarian.
Can I show half and full plate prices?
Yes. Write both prices with a slash, such as 240/380, and put “Half / Full” after the section name so the labels print above the prices.
Can I put a QR code on the menu?
Yes. Paste a link to your online menu, reviews or ordering page into QR code link and it prints at the bottom right with your caption.
Why do Hindi dish names show as “?” in the PDF?
The PDF uses the standard PDF fonts, which cover Latin letters only. Download the PNG instead, which keeps any script your browser can display.
Is my menu saved?
Yes, in this browser only. Use Reset to the example to start again.
