Online paint with real brushes, layers and symmetry

This online paint app is a full drawing program that opens instantly in your browser. Sketch with a pencil, colour in with a soft marker, spray with an airbrush, letter with a slanted calligraphy pen, fill shapes with a paint bucket, and build a picture on separate layers that you can hide, reorder and fade. It works with a mouse, a finger on a phone or tablet, and a stylus — Apple Pencil, Surface Pen, Wacom and S Pen pressure makes lines thicker when you press harder.

Nothing is uploaded and nothing is installed: your drawing lives in the page’s memory until you download it as a PNG or JPG. That makes it handy for quick diagrams, colouring an open image, practising lettering, mandala-style art with radial symmetry, or letting children draw without an account.

How to use the Online Paint

  1. Pick a tool from the toolbar — pencil, marker, airbrush, calligraphy pen, eraser, fill bucket, eyedropper, line, rectangle, ellipse, text or pan.
  2. Choose a colour from the palette or the colour picker, then set the brush size and opacity. Turn on a Symmetry mode for mirrored or radial drawing.
  3. Draw on the canvas. Pinch or Ctrl + scroll to zoom, and drag with two fingers, the Pan tool or the Space bar to move around.
  4. Use Layers to keep parts separate: add a layer, select it before painting, hide it with the eye, change its opacity or move it up and down.
  5. Undo with Ctrl + Z (or the arrow buttons), then pick PNG or JPG under Save and press “Download picture”.

Online Paint features

Pressure-sensitive brushes

Pencil, marker, airbrush and calligraphy pen respond to stylus pressure through Pointer Events, and each stroke is drawn at a single coat so overlaps inside one stroke never darken.

Fill bucket with tolerance

A scan-line flood fill reads either the active layer or everything you can see, grows one pixel under anti-aliased outlines, and lets you set how different a colour may be before the fill stops.

Symmetry modes

Mirror left/right, top/bottom, four-way, or radial × 6 and × 8 around the centre — every brush, shape and text follows the guides.

Layers

A white Background layer plus as many transparent layers as you need, with thumbnails, visibility, opacity and order. Hide the background to save a transparent PNG.

Shapes and text

Lines, rectangles and ellipses (hold Shift for 45° lines, squares and circles), outline or filled, and text in five font styles placed where you click.

Canvas sizes and images

Presets for social posts, stories, HD and A4 at 150 dpi, a custom size up to 4,096 px, centred resizing, and opening a photo to paint over.

Tips

  • Draw outlines on one layer and colour on a layer below it — then the fill bucket can use “all layers” to stay inside the lines without painting over them.
  • For a colouring page from a photo, open the result of Photo to Sketch (Ink lines style) and fill it here.
  • Radial × 8 with a small pencil makes mandalas; turn on Four-way for symmetrical faces and logos.
  • For blocky, pixel-perfect sprites the Pixel Art Editor is better suited; for collaborative-style boards with sticky notes, try the Online Whiteboard.
  • Large canvases (above about 3000 px) use more memory per undo step; history keeps the last 30 actions.

Online Paint FAQ

Is this online paint app free?

Yes — free, with no account, watermark or install. It runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers, tablets and phones.

Does it support pen pressure?

Yes. With “Pen pressure” on, a stylus that reports pressure (Apple Pencil, Surface Pen, Wacom tablets, S Pen) changes the brush width. A mouse or finger draws at the full size you set.

Is my drawing saved?

Only on your screen until you download it. Refreshing or closing the tab clears the canvas, so download a PNG of work you want to keep — you can reopen that PNG later with “Open an image to paint over”.

How do I make the background transparent?

Hide the Background layer with its eye button and save as PNG. JPG has no transparency, so it is always saved on white.

Why does the fill bucket leave gaps?

The outline has a small gap or a soft, anti-aliased edge. Close the gap, raise the tolerance a little, or keep “Fill uses all layers” on so the outline layer bounds the fill.

Can I draw on a photo?

Yes. “Open an image to paint over” puts the photo on the background layer at its own size (up to 4,096 px) and gives you an empty layer above it, so the photo stays untouched underneath.
