MOV to MP4 Converter

Turn iPhone and camera MOV files into MP4 in seconds — the video is copied, not re-encoded, so nothing is lost.

Drop MOV videos here or click to choose MOV or QT from iPhone, Mac or camera · several at once · nothing is uploaded
“Keep original” copies the video untouched whenever MP4 allows it.
Every audio track is kept, in the same order.
Only shrinks larger videos; a smaller size means re-encoding.
Ignored for tracks that are copied.

iPhone MOV files hold H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio, which MP4 takes as is: the streams are copied, so the MP4 is identical in quality and almost the same size.

Runs entirely in your browser — videos are never uploaded. The Mediabunny engine (MPL-2.0) loads from a CDN; ffmpeg.wasm (GPL-2.0-or-later, 32 MB) is downloaded only if you approve it for Dolby or DTS audio.

MOV to MP4 conversion that keeps every pixel

Use this MOV to MP4 converter when an iPhone, Mac or camera video won’t upload, won’t play on a Windows PC or Android phone, or is rejected by a form that asks for MP4. It runs in your browser: drop in your .mov files and get .mp4 files back, with nothing uploaded.

iPhones record H.264 (“Most Compatible”) or HEVC (“High Efficiency”) video with AAC audio, and MP4 can carry both untouched. So instead of re-encoding — slow, and always slightly lossy — the converter copies the streams into an MP4 container. A long 4K clip is done in roughly the time it takes to read it, and the result is identical frame for frame, rotation included.

Camera MOVs from DSLRs and mirrorless cameras often store uncompressed PCM audio, which MP4 players handle poorly; that track is converted to AAC while the video is still copied.

How to use the MOV to MP4 Converter

    1. Drop your MOV files on the upload area — from an iPhone, AirDrop, a memory card or your Downloads folder.
    2. Check the plan: on a typical iPhone clip both lines say Copy, which means a lossless remux.
    3. Want a smaller file too? Choose a Resolution such as 1080p or 720p; the video is then re-encoded at the quality you pick.
    4. If the clip is HEVC and must play on an older Windows PC, set Video codec to H.264.
    5. Press Convert to MP4, check the result in the preview and download it, or every file as a ZIP.

    MOV to MP4 Converter features

    Seconds, not minutes

Copying streams skips decoding and encoding entirely, so even long recordings convert at the speed your device reads them.

    No quality loss

The H.264 or HEVC video and the AAC audio are byte-for-byte the same as in the MOV.

    Portrait videos stay upright

The iPhone’s rotation flag is carried into the MP4, so vertical clips play the right way round.

    Camera audio fixed

PCM audio from cameras becomes AAC, so the MP4 plays everywhere, while the video is still copied.

    Web-friendly output

Files under 400 MB get their index at the start (“fast start”), so they begin playing on a website before fully downloading.

Why iPhone videos are MOV — and why MP4 travels better

The iPhone Camera app saves video in the QuickTime File Format (.mov), Apple’s own container since 1991. Under Settings → Camera → Formats, “High Efficiency” records HEVC (H.265) and “Most Compatible” records H.264; the audio is AAC either way.

MP4 is the ISO standard descended from QuickTime, and it is what Android, Windows, smart TVs, browsers and social networks expect. Because the codecs in an iPhone MOV are already MP4 codecs, converting is just a change of wrapper. Title, date and comment tags come along; Apple-specific keys such as the GPS location and the Live Photo link are not copied — handy if you would rather not share where a clip was filmed.

H.264 or HEVC in the MP4?

If you don’t know where the MP4 will end up, choose H.264. If it stays in the Apple world, keep HEVC and enjoy the smaller file.

    Common problems and fixes

    • Plays on the iPhone but not on Windows — usually HEVC without the codec extension. Convert again with H.264.
    • Too big for WhatsApp or email — choose 720p here, or use the video compressor to aim for a size in MB.
    • Sound but a black picture in a browser — many Windows and Linux browsers can’t decode HEVC; H.264 fixes it.
    • Only need the sound? Video to Audio extracts it directly.

    MOV to MP4 Converter FAQ

How do I convert MOV to MP4 without losing quality?

Drop the MOV here and leave both codecs on “Keep original”. iPhone and most camera clips are then rewrapped, not re-encoded, so the MP4 holds exactly the same video and audio data.

Is it safe to convert private iPhone videos here?

Yes. The file is read and rewritten by your browser on your own device and is never uploaded. The iPhone’s location tag isn’t copied into the MP4.

Why is the MP4 almost the same size as the MOV?

Because the streams are copied, not compressed again. To make it smaller, choose a lower resolution or use the video compressor.

Can I convert MOV to MP4 on an iPhone?

Usually, yes: open this page in Safari, tap the upload area, pick the video from Photos or Files, convert, and save the download to Files. Very long 4K clips may need more memory than a phone browser allows; a computer handles them more easily.

Will the MP4 play on Android and Windows?

H.264 MP4s play on virtually every Android phone and Windows PC. HEVC MP4s play on most recent Android phones; on Windows they may need Microsoft’s HEVC Video Extensions, so pick H.264 when in doubt.

Can I convert several MOV files at once?

Yes — select or drop them together. Each file shows its own plan and progress, and Download all saves every MP4 in one ZIP.
