A large calculator online with big buttons and a big display
This large calculator is made to be easy to see and easy to press. The keys are up to 100 pixels tall with thick outlines, the numbers on the display are several times the size of an ordinary calculator’s, and the colours are high-contrast: bright yellow for + − × ÷, green for equals. It suits older users, people with low vision or shaky hands, and anyone using a tablet at arm’s length or a screen across the room.
Choose Speak to have the calculator read out each result — “1,000 plus 180 equals 1,180” — or every key as you press it, using the voice already built into your phone or computer. There is nothing to install and no sign-up, and it works offline once the page has loaded.
How to use the Large Calculator
- Tap the big number keys, or type on a keyboard — the number pad works too.
- Press + − × or ÷, the next number, then the green = key. The line above the answer shows the whole sum, so you can check it.
- Made a mistake? Press ⌫ to delete the last digit, C to clear the number, or AC to start again.
- To hear the answers, set Speak to Results, or to Keys and results to hear every key too. Turn your device volume up.
- Untick Large keys and display if you would like the normal size with memory keys (MC, MR, M+, M−).
Large Calculator features
Big, high-contrast keys
Keys 76–100 px tall with 2 px outlines and bold digits, well above the 44 px minimum touch target recommended for accessibility, with clear colour groups for numbers, operations and equals.
Giant display
Results up to about 5 rem (80 px) tall, shrinking only when the number is very long, with the full calculation shown in large text above.
Talking calculator option
Uses your browser’s speech synthesis to read results, errors such as “Cannot divide by zero”, or every key.
No tiny extra buttons
Memory keys are hidden in large mode so only the keys you need remain; the history list below stays readable and tappable.
Correct everyday maths
Multiplication before addition (2 + 3 × 4 = 14), a phone-style % key and results cleaned of binary rounding noise (0.1 + 0.2 = 0.3).
Who a big button calculator helps
Small calculator keys are a common frustration for people with reduced eyesight, arthritis, tremor or large fingers, and for children learning sums. Accessibility guidelines such as WCAG 2.2 ask for touch targets of at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, and 44 by 44 at the stricter AAA level; the keys here are roughly twice that on a phone. The display uses the page’s strongest text colour on a plain background, giving the highest contrast the theme allows, and it works with the browser’s own zoom (Ctrl and +) if you want it even bigger.
For screen-reader users, every key has a spoken label (for example “Divide” or “Change sign”) and the answer is announced when it changes. The Speak option is separate from a screen reader, so it also helps people who simply prefer to hear the answer.
Tips for easier calculating
- On a tablet, turn the screen to portrait and set the browser to full screen for the biggest keys.
- Use the history list to check earlier answers; tap one to use it again.
- Add a page shortcut to your home screen from the browser menu so the large calculator opens like an app.
- For percentages of a price use the % key, e.g. 200 − 15 % = 170; for more detail see the percentage calculator or the discount calculator.
- Need memory keys or a smaller layout? The standard online calculator is the same calculator at normal size.
Large Calculator FAQ
Is there a large calculator online for free?
Yes. This large calculator is free in any browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no app, account or adverts in the calculator.
Can the calculator talk?
Yes. Set Speak to Results to hear each answer, or Keys and results to hear every key. It uses the speech voice built into your device; if your browser has none, the menu is disabled.
How do I make the numbers even bigger?
Use the browser zoom: Ctrl and + on a computer, or pinch to zoom on a phone. The calculator keeps its layout as it grows.
Is there a large calculator app?
You do not need one: open this page and use “Add to Home screen” (Android) or “Add to Home Screen” from the Share menu (iPhone) to get an icon that opens it full screen.
Does it do percentages and BODMAS?
Yes. It works out × and ÷ before + and −, and the % key works like a phone calculator, so 1,000 + 18 % = 1,180.
Are my sums saved?
Only on your device: the last 50 calculations are kept in your browser so you can look back, and the Clear button removes them.
