Flashlight Online

Light up the screen in white or any colour, switch on your phone’s torch where supported, with SOS and strobe.

Light colour
Turn your device’s own brightness to maximum for the strongest light.
Mode
Photosensitivity warning: flashing light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy and cause discomfort or migraine in others. Do not point flashing light at people or drivers.

Phone torch (camera flash)

Uses the LED next to your rear camera where the browser allows it — mainly Chrome on Android. The camera is opened only to switch the LED on; no picture is taken.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

A free flashlight online: screen light and phone torch

This flashlight online tool gives you light in two ways. The screen light fills your whole display with bright white — or warm white, red, green, blue or any colour you choose — so a phone, tablet or laptop becomes a soft lamp for finding keys, reading a menu or lighting a video call. The phone torch button switches on the LED beside your camera, on phones and browsers that allow it.

Both can flash an SOS signal in correct Morse timing or run as a strobe, after you confirm a photosensitivity warning. While the light is on, the page asks your device to keep the screen awake so it does not dim and lock.

Everything runs in your browser. The camera is opened only to control the torch: no image is captured, stored or sent anywhere.

How to use the Flashlight

  1. Pick a Light colour and set the Brightness. White at 100% is the brightest; red preserves night vision.
  2. Press Turn on screen light. Tap the light to show the controls, and press Off or Esc to switch it off.
  3. For the LED torch, press Turn on phone torch and allow camera access. Press it again to switch the torch off.
  4. To signal, tick the warning box, then choose SOS or Strobe (1–10 flashes per second). The mode applies to both the screen and the torch.
  5. Turn your device brightness up to maximum for the strongest light, and keep the page open while you use it.

Flashlight features

Full-screen light

Covers the whole display and goes true full screen where the browser allows, hiding the address bar.

Any colour

Six quick colours plus a colour picker; brightness scales the colour rather than the backlight, so it also works as a dim night light.

Phone torch control

Uses the camera track’s standard torch setting, with a fallback check through the Image Capture API.

Correct SOS timing

Three short, three long, three short flashes: dot 200 ms, dash 600 ms, with the standard 1, 3 and 7-unit gaps.

Screen Wake Lock

Keeps the display from dimming or locking while the light is on, in browsers that support it.

Safety first

Strobe and SOS stay disabled until you acknowledge the photosensitivity warning.

Which devices can switch on the torch?

Web pages can only control the LED through the camera, and only some browsers expose that control. When it is not available the screen light still works everywhere.

How SOS works in Morse code

SOS is the international distress signal: · · · — — — · · · (S O S), sent as one continuous sequence. Morse timing is built on a unit: a dot is one unit, a dash three, the gap inside a letter one unit, the gap between letters three and the pause between repetitions seven. With a 200 ms unit one complete SOS takes 6.8 seconds. To encode your own messages, try the Morse code translator.

Only use SOS in a genuine emergency, and contact emergency services by phone when you can (112 works on mobiles in India, the UK and Europe; 911 in the US).

Tips

  • A red screen light keeps your eyes adapted to the dark — useful for stargazing or checking a sleeping child.
  • A white screen at full brightness makes a flattering soft light for video calls; place the device behind your camera.
  • Screen brightness, not just colour, sets the strength: raise your system brightness, and switch off any battery-saver dimming.
  • The torch and a bright screen use battery quickly; switch them off when you are done.
  • Need to read small print? The online magnifier uses the same camera with zoom, freeze frame and the phone light.
  • To check your display for stuck pixels instead, use the dead pixel test.

Flashlight FAQ

How do I use my phone as a flashlight online?

Open this page, press Turn on screen light for an instant screen light, or Turn on phone torch to switch on the camera LED if your phone and browser support it.

Why does the torch not work on my iPhone?

Safari and other iOS browsers do not let web pages control the camera flash. Use the torch in Control Centre, or the screen light on this page.

Is it safe to give camera permission?

The camera stream is used only to switch the LED and is never shown, recorded or uploaded. It stops as soon as you turn the torch off or leave the page.

Why does my screen still turn off?

Your browser may not support the Screen Wake Lock API, or battery saver blocks it. Increase the auto-lock time in your device settings.

Is the strobe safe?

Flashing light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy, especially at 3 to 30 flashes per second. That is why strobe and SOS need your confirmation first. Never aim flashing light at drivers.

Does the flashlight work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the screen light works without a connection.
